The Johnstown Flood Museum in downtown Johnstown has been closed indefinitely due to flooding caused by a valve failure on the building's third floor, museum officials said. Water poured through the walls, resulting in damage to the facility.

Fortunately, items of historic importance, such as artifacts and archives, were not affected, officials said. The damage primarily involves carpets, drywall, and ceiling tiles, which need to be dried out or replaced.

Not really, one was from a dam burst that created a lot of death & destruction. Whereas this sounds like a pipe burst probably caused by extended extreme cold weather. Hopefully the damage is limited to the building only and not any important artifacts. It was cold here in Louisiana, so I imagine it was colder in Pennsylvania. 😋

No kidding. I read the book...crazy. Crazy. That conductor on the train, racing ahead of the flood, blowing his whistle...crazy!

“… Is this the definition of irony?…”

I don’t know, but the opposite of irony is wrinkley.

As ironic as singing a song about irony, and naming a bunch of things that are not ironic?

Are the Democrats counting ballots in the museum?

It is a pretty bad flood when the 3rd floor floods first!

“As ironic as singing a song about irony”

Not being up on old pop music, I had to look that up...and you are right!

racing ahead of the flood,

The part of the Jonestown flood thats truly gruesome is the fires that followed. Masses of crumpled buildings, trees, basically the whole town with all the people who were not killed by the flood, trapped in the debris. Burning to death. After being swept up by the flood and miraculously surviving that...only to burn to death. Yeah...thats one story that I kinda wish I hadn't have read. And it all ultimately was caused by human greed, obstinance, and negligence.

"Wrinkley"... wasn't he a newscaster on NBC in the 60's?
