In his first remarks as President Donald Trump’s defense secretary, Pete Hegseth referred to two U.S. military bases by their former Confederate names, appearing to hint that he might possibly restore them.
Speaking to reporters on Monday ― his first day on the job after being narrowly confirmed by the Senate ― the National Guard veteran laid out what he envisions for the Pentagon under Trump’s administration. Hegseth expressed support for the president’s executive orders that would scrap the military’s diversity and inclusion initiatives, reinstate soldiers “who were pushed out because of COVID mandates” and create an Iron Dome-like missile defense system for the United States.
“Every moment that I’m here, I’m thinking about the guys and gals in Guam, in Germany, Fort Benning and Fort Bragg, on missile defense sites and aircraft carriers,” the former Fox News host said. “Our job is lethality and readiness and war-fighting.” …

Where did the 20 million Biden voters go?
And I still call them ‘The Redskins’.
I wouldn’t put taxpayer money behind changing it back, though.
Needs to be done

Based on your comment, I also looked him up. And yes, Bragg did an excellent job of losing battles.
The CSA had some excellent leaders, I wonder why Bragg’s name was used for that Fort? Regardless, premier US fighting units are there now. I know a young soldier about to be assigned there, and when he selected it the recruiter called it Bragg, so the name is still being used.
“YES!! It’s history, US history. All the statues the left took down need to be put back up too.
Take Fort Bragg, it’s synonymous with Special Forces and Airborne. Fort Liberty (what the left calls it now) is just a limp name that pansies and trannies would like.”
It’s spelled L-I-B-E-R-T-Y but, it’s pronounced “BRAGG”….
Put that on a t shirt and sell it in Fayetteville.
all those confederate generals whos names adorned the bases were pardoned by president johnson
so if a pardon is good enough for fauchi, cheney and the biden family, its good enough for me. the names of the following bases, changed by the previous administration, shalll be changed back to their original names immediately..
watch the left twist trying to get out of this one
Glad to hear that!
Which side was the "liberals" in 1860? The Side that wanted social change and social equity for blacks, or the side that wanted to keep society exactly as it was?
The liberals of 1860 also wanted high taxes, huge spending, protectionism, expansion of government, and many government projects administrated by them.
Kinda like modern liberals.
Hooray!
He better!
In Columbus, every body just called it Benning, so Pete can leave Fort off.
YES!!
I was just reading about Bragg - he was the worst general the CSA had, and contributed to their defeat. Only Jeff Davis liked him.
><
I always wondered why a major post was named after him.
Yes, it will always be referred to as Benning, as will all the others who had name changes.
To hell with the name changers.
please do. Restore every freaking one of them!
The liberals were the southern Democrats in 1860, because they believed they had the right to own other people, treat them differently, and exploit them for free labor. That's no different than liberals today pushing for mass invasions of foreigners to exploit them for political reasons, take advantage of a cheap labor force, while discriminating against white U.S. citizens.
yes. immediately.
I'm pro-Union. I would prefer the names of Union Generals like Grant and Sherman.
Or how about someone more recent like Schwarzkopf?
But I'll trust Hegseth's judgment. We'll have to make a stand against "Wokeism". So if we have to rename those bases back to Fort Bragg and Fort Benning, so be it.
