President Donald Trump's administration is offering federal workers the chance to take a "deferred resignation," which would mean they agree now to resign but get paid through September.
A senior administration official told NBC News that they expect 5%-10% of the federal workforce to quit, which, they estimate, could lead to around $100 billion in savings.

The Swamp is as deep as it is wide. More Drano will be needed.

Brilliant.
Leave now with a nice payout.
Or get fired later.

Think about that. 2 million and it’s a drop in the bucket. And they control your lives.

But they will have to get a job to do actual work rather than surf the internet for porn. Do you think they can handle it?

By offering them the buyout, the unemployment numbers will stay lower for at least 8 months.

You’re missing something. All should be given an offer they can’t refuse.

Yes, instead of being employed for the next 8 months and doing no work, these employees will instead stay home and collect 8 months salary and do nothing.
So it seems to me that it is business as usual for those who accept the offer.

The point is that these are civil servants who cannot easily be fired. So paying them 8 months severance may be a great deal for the taxpayer if it gets them to resign.
To: House Atreides
It appears that it does apply. So all those about to retire will get an extra year of pay and time towards pension.
