Locked out of power in Washington, the party is struggling to agree on a unified message of opposition. Some of its lawmakers are even telling Republicans they want to work together.
As President Trump pushes aggressively to reshape the federal government, Democrats have retreated into a political crouch that reflects their powerlessness in Washington.
Far from rising up in outrage, the opposition party’s lawmakers have taken a muted wait-and-see approach as Mr. Trump tries to end birthright citizenship, halt diversity programs in the federal government, undo foreign policy alliances and seek retribution against his perceived political enemies.
In some cases, Democrats are even making a show of working with Republicans.
Scores of them voted for the Laken Riley Act, which allows the deportation of unauthorized migrants who are accused but not yet convicted of crimes. Others volunteered to work with Republicans on a border security bill. And while Democrats are fighting the nominations of Pete Hegseth as defense secretary and Tulsi Gabbard as national intelligence director, Mr. Trump’s other cabinet appointees appear on a glide path to confirmation without much vocal resistance.
It is telling that in the opening days of the new Trump administration, the loudest pushback to the president’s policies has come not from an elected Democrat but from the bishop at Washington National Cathedral, who asked Mr. Trump directly during a service to have mercy on immigrants and L.G.B.T.Q. children.

One think that the Trumpster cannot do is to leave Democrats dumbfounded. That’s ‘cuz they come that way.
Dems stole a national election from him, harassed him for years via lawfare and the LE agencies they controlled and tried to kill him twice. What the hell do they expect?
I want to see the 501(c)(3) status revoked for any nonprofit—including churches—that aids and abets illegal aliens.
Then indict them under RICO.
“...a unified message”
There they go again, focusing on “message” rather than fixing what’s wrong with them. They are incapable of learning, correcting and improving.
The ‘Rats should be happy with the Senate and House seats they stole. They can console themselves with that.
Oh, you mean illegal immigrants. You know, the people who broke our laws to illegally gain access to our country.
Wait until the Democrats find out that every illegal border invader qualifies for deportation because crossing illegally was a crime.
They truly believe they should never lose.
They can work with us by getting with the program and keeping their mouths shut for the next four years while the adults in the room clean up the mess.
That’s really the only option we should give them.
That woman bishop is the left’s new Michael Avenatti
Some of its lawmakers are even telling Republicans they want to work together.
Hell no that’s how we end up with Rino’s aka moles.
The democrats are searching for enough groups of voters who can give them enough electoral votes to win. They will find those issues and pretend to be on those voters side..”we can help, etc”...Trump is forcing the dems to deal with real issues, and they will not be able to cope with those issues and form a coalition of voters at the same time. Hopefully, some Dems will bow out, or be voted out, or “flip”...I say crush their party, solve the real issues...and leave’em in the dustbin of history.
Good…
Let’s beat them senseless. Until they’re scared and cowering in a corner.
“Oh, you mean illegal immigrants. You know, the people who broke our laws to illegally gain access to our country.”
EXACTLY. That lie should be shoved back in their faces at every turn.
It seems that some Democrats are watching this Trump Express take off and don't want to be left behind. Mid-terms are going to be very interesting.
Trump is carpet bombing the opposition. He’s setting them back on their heels.
Congress needs to get their act together and push his nominees through the confirmation process as quickly as possible.
We don’t want a repeat of 2018 when the Democrats regained congress.
Nuff said.
Plan B = Recess Appointment.
Mike Johnson will do it.
If Hegseth, Gabbard, Kash fail to get the confirmation, then Congress will go into recess.
