Artificial intelligence systems are training themselves to do all sorts of things that they were never intended to do. They are literally teaching themselves new languages, they are training themselves to become “proficient in research-grade chemistry without ever being taught it” and they have learned to “lie and manipulate humans for their own advantage”. So what happens when these super-intelligent entities become powerful enough to start exerting control over the world around them? And what happens if these super-intelligent entities start merging with spiritual entities? In fact, could it be possible that there is evidence that this is already happening?

Most if not all machines are an extension of a human trait.
Word perfect was always the better product. Still have a copy of v9 I believe was last version along with Borland paradox for a db program - again better than MS access ever hoped to be. Lotus vs excel though, ok I will give the advantage to excel along with power point over Harvard graphics. If Corel had Microsoft’s marketing ability, we might still have WP and the two products trying to one-up each other every year.
Everybody copies everybody. It’s really just advertising. They do goofy stuff with your pictures to remind you to take more pictures to store in their cloud so “remember” how feature rich they are and can charge you more money the next time you buy something from them, or have more data to sell, or whatever their revenue stream is.
“The issue is, how much damage will God permit? How severe the chastisement? The devil is not all-powerful. The Lord remains in charge, always. But there will be a cleansing and it will be very painful. The timeline is not ours to know.”
Very accurate and wise words.
“Keep the Faith and pray.”
Yes. That is the only solution.
Absolutely LOVED Paradox — especially in DOS. Access is fun, but Paradox made more sense (to me).
DOS WP was best, too. Sadly, when WP went the way of Windows, it lost some functionality. I have some version (6 I think), but never use it any more. I loved that you could use WP tables as a spreadsheet and do math in it.
Since I retired 17 years ago, I don’t worry too much about any of it.
Good movie and really good soundtrack.
Keep a pencil and paper in the pods in the future.
It’s a tool, nothing more, nothing less.
I can’t help but think of this MST3K movie - The Dead Talk Back.

It’s one of my favorites. A movie that tried to be a few things and failed at all of them.
My favorite short is on there too. The Selling Wizard. Apparently, the lady showing the wonders of refrigeration was never credited.
I loved WordPerfect.
I have to tolerate MS Word and use LibreOffice more.
Phone calls from the dead! Gonna have to look that up! Sounds fascinating.
Thanks for the mention!
Learned how to program (well script) with DOS PAL and later when paradox 5 (think that was the version) started to do actual programming with Objectpal. When I took programming classes for college degrees, I would often work out the logic in Objectpal of what I needed to do and then replicate in whichever language I was studying at the time. There was nothing I couldn’t do with Objectpal. Writing query results and data manipulation straight to memory with TCursors instead of read/writing to tables just made things so munch faster.

HAL lives.
I read the first 25% of the 1979 release. INTERESTING STUFF!
Cal is very credible. He is an excellent researcher and challenges the facts in search for the truth. Unlike many in this field who would never allow the truth to get in the way of a good story.
Glad you liked it. 1979? I didn’t think he was that old.
