Oops, forgot the most important part:
“Replacing 12,000 structures would require an estimated 10,000 to 20,000 truckloads of lumber, Goodman said. A 48-foot flatbed truck can haul 45,500 to 52,000 pounds of lumber, according to Union Pacific. The number of pounds per 1,000 board feet varies by tree species, but the Global Trade Network has figures ranging from 2,250 to 5,350 pounds per 1,000 board feet of freshly cut lumber.”
The only things standing in the burned-out rubble are the brick fireplaces.
The old demcrap slogan;
build BACK better.
It would probably take 5 years of inspections just to clear the debris.
And given CA's environmental lunacy, how long before the dumps receiving debris are full or sued for alleged environmental violations and forced to stop receiving deliveries?
Nancy Pelosi increases her stake in Weyerhauser
And that demand increases prices which affects us all.
I think we are going to see a lot of deals made between mortgage holding banks and homeowners. We saw those kinds of deals during the 84-90 and 2008-2014 housing depressions.
If you live in an area that has a GEOLOGIC RECORD of being arrid and a fire danger...
... maybe you should build your house out of SOMETHING THAT DOESN’T BURN EASILY.
Just sayin...
In my opinion? I think it will be a long time before the burned homes are replaced. Slow process.
Many may just decide it is time to build elsewhere (outside of CA madness). The paper work for new home in a metro area is incredible.
Many of those in the Palisades have owned the homes a long time. They might be safer in less populated area. It seems that CA in general is getting more and more dangerous to live in.
The trees!! OMG!!!!!
Get Gore on the phone.
Looks like an uptick in orders from Canaduh...
Gee, Wally, where do you think we’ll get all that lumber from?
Just thinking out loud - maybe rebuilding with wood is not the best idea.

‘The bottom line is that we need Canada’s vast and flowing “lumber fields” to supply our domestic housing needs —always have and always will.’

Time for the Feds to unlock the forests of the Northwest.
California mandarins and regulators are salivating at the prospect of putting their bureaucratic boots to peoples’ necks.

Nothing to worry about, it will be a minimum of 5 years before a single 2x4 will be needed, probably 8 years if things go smoothly.
Where does Ho Chi Buyden get the authority to pledge six months of fake (oops) American money without the consent of Congress?
The state is going to deny permits to rebuild single family homes and force the sale of land as a result so that multi-family dwellings can be built.
This will happen somewhere in the state.
