Is desalination the future of drought relief in California?

Oct 31, 2015

San Diego is set to soon start supplying itself with millions of gallons a day of fresh, drinkable water, using saltwater from the Pacific Ocean, converted by a brand new desalination plant. As California's historic drought continues, the plant will likely intensify the debate over the role of desalination may play in the state's water supply. Special Correspondent Mike Taibbi reports.

Is pbs publishing this now a coincidence? Or are they covering for a democrat inept group of California politician grifters?

It's PBS. What else would they be doing?

It can and is being trucked in. In addition, they have planes that scoop and dump...wind being the biggest concern.

No! Big water, the corrupt controlling the water, are not interested in plentiful water.

They want everyone under threat of drought so they can charge them up them up the ying yang.

Big water is big money. And they aim to keep it that way.

“Is desalination the future…”

No.

The waste product is salt has to be disposed.

Sell the salt? No, that would have been the solution to the Salton Sea fiasco which has no solution.

The waste salt would have to been dumped into the Pacific Ocean which would kill the Delta Smelt due to increased salinity of the ocean.

Long live the Delta Smelt.

There is no drought in California, except of competent leadership.

They should be doing something like this.

At least it's entertaining.

As if the globalists aren’t actively limiting the water supply as much as they possibly can.

As long as it doesn’t take any energy to perform the process the CA ruling class may allow it.

The water should be pumped back into the ground. Let the water table distribute it

I’ve often wondered why they didn’t use desalination plants. They can’t be more expensive than having to rebuild infrastructure.

Bingo. All the snow melt could be captured and directed into reservoirs for future use.

“sea water distilled with the heat of a nuclear reactor while cooling said reactor might solve multiple problems”

That requires systemic thinking - the ability to connect multiple needs with multiple sources and see the results in one’s imagination.

The typical democRAT is incapable of functioning at that level.
