“This is a Native American sacred medicine and we don’t want people messing around with it,” said a Navajo member of the church from a congregation in Rio Grande City, Texas, who asked not to be identified. “The Natives people don’t like it. White people shouldn’t mess around with it.”

The Native American Church originated in the late 19th century in the Oklahoma Territory after peyote was introduced

This is race based, the law is race based, and this man’s statement is racist, and focused on one race rather than races that aren’t his own.

[[ but peyote is a real aspect of some native American religions, comparable to wine in Christian churches]]

Yeah but Christian churches don’t declare “wine is part of our traditional practices, therefore noone else can partake of it”

I LOL when I think of seeing Tommy LaSorda jumping up and down after a big Dodger win. He was jumping about 2 inches high and the announcer said, “looks like Tommy is on the pasta steroids again.”

How many indians actually practice the many religions of the indians, and what percentage of that tiny number are not doing it for political/race/cool factor reasons?

Anyone who has interacted with real New Mexico Native Americans (as distinguished from the pathetic potted plants one sees sitting cross legged in front of the council house on a reservation) knows that the last thing these easily addicted and violent folks need is psychedelics to liven up their already anti social behavior.

No
The southwest tribes use the drugs

All races can participate in culture, if this isn’t about race the law would not have been passed under Clinton and this thread wouldn’t be about race, which it is.

So they are only pissed that ‘White’ people are messing with it? Blacks, Browns and Asians are just fine though. Why don’t the ‘Native Americans’ (aint no one just popped out of the ground in North America) embrace this income opportunity like they did casinos and start mass growing to meet their and the market demand?

Wasn’t that the band famous for the song “Pigeon Toed Orange Peel” in the Clint Eastwood flick from 1968?

The tribes used to have their young men go up into a mountain, starve themselves till they see a “hallucination vision”. From it they would get their totem animal, name and what items to put in their medicine bag.
Then they found the White Man had all the visions necessary kept in a bottle and for a few skins you could get a bottle of it.
Now they have peyote.

***Some polls say native Americans voted the most pro Trump of any racial group***

In Oklahoma they do! They still despise Andrew Jackson who founded the democratic party and forced the tribes West on the trail of tears.
Outside Oklahoma, most of the blue areas in the West are tribes who still follow the democrat line to keep the welfare checks flowing.

When I was at Occidental College, all humanities majors had to take a course in anthropology which was taught by a young professor who was enamored with The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge by Carlos Castaneda (Berkeley, Calif.: University of California Press, 1968), which sang praises of peyote and its wonderful effects. The professor even devoted a whole unit to this book and assigned us to write an essay as to how psychotropic drugs such as peyote could improve society.

Carlos Castaneda was later exposed as a fraud, and this and other books that he wrote are essentially fiction.

If others don’t stop denigrating whites, let them feel our wrath.

Chris Rock told a joke, he said his uncle is the most racist person on the planet but he married a White lady. He did an impression of his uncle and said,” I loves Debbie, but when the revolution come, I kills her first!”

I remember when that book was all the rage and the shrooms were believed to contain the kernel of eternal wisdom.

Make them legal to grow and cactus growers would develop a type which could grow six to eight times faster.
