Widely prevalent in the Roman Empire?
Yes. But the Roman Empire is not our exemplar.

Jesus preached to the Jews and thus had no need to emphasize homosexuality, which was clearly condemned in the Mosaic Law which Jesus affirmed ("I come not to abolish the Law and the prophets, but to fulfill them").
Paul preached to the Gentiles, where homosexuality was widely accepted, and thus he had to specifically condemn it. The early Christian book - The Didache - is also very clear in its rejection of homosexuality.

St. Paul sure does mention homosexual acts in Romans 1.

“Seems like Romans were also pretty tolerant of child rape.”
They were also pretty tolerant of abortion, child abandonment, and elderly abandoment, and Jesus never addressed those directly directly.
He did say don’t despise children and honor your parents.

Seems like Romans were also pretty tolerant of child rape.
Not all of them. Indeed, many of them were so intolerant of this and other common Greek and Roman vices that they converted to a strange Eastern religion that it was illegal to join...

Excellent comment on the difference between Jesus’ and Paul’s emphases. Exactly correct that Paul came up against non-Jewish cultures in his evangelizing and thus had to comment on it.

“Romans 1:26-28 ~ For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.”

Jimmy Carter spoke of how completely accepted and common homosexuality was in the time of Christ . “Homosexuality was massively practiced in some of the conflicting religions at the time of Christ and even at the time of Christ, in Roman times show that homosexuality was widely prevalent. I think it's quite significant that Jesus never did mention it.” That sounds like something that idiot would say. Dumbest president in history until Biden and Obama came along.

OTOH, I’ve noticed many conservative homosexuals claim to be Christians; how they justify that is a huge puzzle to me.
To: fwdude
Apparently Jimmy thought that it is perfectly fine for guys to go around boinking each other, but if a man looks at a woman with lust in his heart, he committed the worlds worst sin.
Also, he appeared to think that if he applied the Golden Rule to murderous dictators, they would quit being murderous dictators. Good man, not a good President. Naive and inconsistent.

It is a blatant inversion of God’s design and intent for mankind to multiply and fill the earth.
From a purely evolutionary standpoint, it represents the best way for those individuals to ensure that their genes are NOT passed on to future generations... thereby PROVING that the behavior is NOT genetic in nature.

They use this argument a lot, that Jesus didn’t mention it.
What they ignore is that Jesus is the God of Israel, who dictated to Moses the Pentateuch, including Leviticus 18 and 20.

Jesus never mentioned many sins. They were all in Gods Laws however. Jesus said that he did not come to abolish the law.
The statement by Carter shows why he was such a poor president. Never had a lick of sense. God forgives idiots if they believe in the Son of God, Jesus. Carter apparently not a smart guy. God bless his heart.
