Donald Trump Jr. is flying to Greenland on Tuesday as his president-elect father refuses to back off his threats to try to acquire the strategically located land, a source familiar with the trip confirmed to The Post.
Don Jr. will not be meeting with any government officials but instead be scoping out the island to “shoot some fun video content for podcasting,” the source said.
President-elect Donald Trump has been making waves in recent weeks by claiming he wants the US to attain “ownership” of Greenland, harking back to his original pitch he made in his first term about trying to expand America’s territory to include the large Denmark-owned island.
A local Denmark outlet first reported the Don Jr. visit with Greenland’s Department of Foreign Affairs, also noting there was no official government visit planned.
The rhetoric from President-elect Trump has already prompted Greenland Prime Minister Múte Egede to shoot back that the mineral-rich island is “not for sale and will never be for sale.”
The prime minister declared in his New Year’s speech that the island is seeking independence from the Kingdom of Denmark as part of a movement to remove its “shackles of colonialism.
“It is about time that we ourselves take a step and shape our future, also with regard to who we will cooperate closely with and who our trading partners will be,” the PM said in the weeks after Trump’s threats.

But on the other hand, if the USA acquire's Greenland, maybe including Denmark also will be part of the deal. Do you suppose that's what the Danes have up their sleeve? No. Deal breaker. We'd better just keep California and figure out how to get Greenland without having to get Denmark too (and how to return California to sanity--an even more formidable task).
We absolutely do not need two more Democrat Senators and one Democrat representative in perpetuity. Which is what "Greenland as a US State" would provide. For 57,000 people. That is even worse than "Puerto Rico as a US State", or "Washington DC as a State".

Should the US purchase Greenland, it should be as a territory. Let them have home rule and otherwise leave them be.

Starting to sound like Greenland citizens are interested, they say Denmark takes advantage of them.
You make a great argument but unfortunately there is a blocker.
The only way Greenland will take Donald Trump’s deal is if it comes with ironclad guarantees that they will get to keep the healthcare system they’ve got.
Not one single pregnant woman in Greenland or Denmark has ever been put in debt, let alone made bankrupt, as a result of a medical bill connected to their pregnancy.
If there is even a scintilla of suspicion that Greenland would have to adopt the American healthcare system, you could offer them $5 million dollars each and they’d still say it simply isn’t worth the risk.
If the Trump admin is followed by another MAGA president, Greenland can become a viable immigration point for the beleaguered white population of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. The British Isles can become the British Isle and restart its Western culture.

The Post IS a UK (or, at least I think, a Murdoch) paper with many stories and topics shared with the UK Daily Mail.
Brit papers have better, more wide-ranging reports on the US and foreign affairs though many with other tabloid stuff.

This is two of the Greenlanders who greeted Don Jr. when he landed. They both were enthused about becoming part of the United States. They said they are sick and tired of dealing with vacationing Danish stiffs. Who try to come off like British Royalty.
