Lessons From Germany's Economic Contraction
American Thinker ^ | 8 Jan, 2025 | John Klar

Germany’s once-envied efficient economy is in freefall, and the climate change cult and European Green Deal are directly to blame. State policies subsidizing EVs and other products, shutting down coal and nuclear plants, and mandating forced conversion to untested, unimplemented “renewables” resources for energy have decimated industrial efficiency. Industries and blue-collar jobs are fleeing Germany for polluting, profitable operations in China, India, and elsewhere abroad. Will the United States follow suit?

As natural gases skyrocket during a European cold snap, and Russian gas pipelines through Ukraine are shut down for the first time since 1991, Germany has transitioned from Europe’s economic darling to its leading economic anchor. Followed closely by France and the UK, similarly weighted by economically destructive climate fantasies that are crashing to Earth like ideological meteors, the latest blow to gas supplies compounds the crisis occasioned by the mysterious sabotage of Nord Stream 1 and 2.

The results of this disastrous state-controlled economic carbon dioxide experiment continue to be as evident as explosives in a controlled demolition. Germany terminated massive EV subsidies at the end of 2023; EV sales promptly fell 69%. Despite gushing economic promises of “high-paying jobs” in the renewables industry, Germany announces more layoffs almost daily. Chinese companies, unhindered by escalating energy and regulatory costs, are leading in EV and other manufacturing technologies while spewing more chemicals into the ecosystem than German manufacturing industries.

The climate cult is pushing jobs and pollution out of Europe, amplifying both for nations like India. German icon Volkswagen has threatened to close factories for the first time in its history, and recent layoffs of 35,000 (and wage reductions for 120,000) employees are harbingers of more to follow. Consumers are burdened by high energy prices for heat and travel. Fund managers and NGOs may be profiting from renewables manufacturing

There were plenty of people telling them this would happen, but people in a cult don’t listen.

They are effectively Offshoring their CO2 production along with their jobs. So the Global network CO2 production is the same.

Greta sings, “How do you like me now?”

Too bad economic collapse came before the fake climate crisis materialized. America reelected Trump just in time to avoid the same fate.

Trump is going to expose the Climate Crisis and Green New Deal frauds by going full bore on fossil fuels during his presidency which ends in 2028

The climate fraudsters are on record as saying we will see the impending doom an existential climate threat destroying the world by 2030 which is total BS - just like all the other fraudulent predictions

The first was the 1990 NASA prediction that Greenland's glaciers would be totally melted by the year 2015.

Then we had Obamas 2009 prediction that Americas glaciers would be melted by 2019.

Thinking people are going to start catching on

Its very simple. Do not allow the Gaia Worshipers to sacrifice your economy, your standard of living and your national security to their weather goddess.

Anybody with above a room temperature IQ could see this coming 20 years ago. We should remove all subsidies for corn based ethanol, wind, solar and any of the other so-called “green” boondoggles.

Its not the same. Its WORSE! China, India and other 3rd world countries are not as efficient and do not have the environmental standards first world countries like Germany (or the US) do. They will emit more pollution of all kinds to produce the same goods. Since there is only one atmosphere and thus a pollutant pumped into the atmosphere over China does as much harm as the same amount pumped into the atmosphere over Germany it was a fool's errand from the start.

Not only that, western countries are still using the same amount of steel, plastics, etc they always did. Their consumption has not changed. All they've done is push production - including tax revenue, jobs, economic and military security - out so they can falsely "feel" as though they're being virtuous...which they're not doing anyway because now there's more pollution for the same amount of goods. That's how idiotic this is.

Those who vote for or advocate for this crap should be forced to pay the price first. Make THEM pay more for everything first. Otherwise their votes for these policies should be null and void. We all know these Eco Socialist Gaia Worshipers always insist on not being subject to the consequences of their own actions......

Sun is million times bigger than puny earth. And Sun has cycles of activity.
Humans are so puny compared to puny earth, astronauts in orbit can’t see any hman made structures.
But the climate freaks claim humans affect global warming? Bizarre.

Yes. Much like how EV subsidies failed to sell e-cars, the billions of subsidies offered to chip makers found no takers. There were so many strings attached, the chip makers couldn’t make any money. Bidenomics was a complete waste of money. Trillions down the drain. The only thing that went up is the inflation rate.

The “ Lesson” is do not support a war against the one who gives you cheap energy and the cheapest commodities that kept your country alive.

The second “ Lesson”, don’t blow up the pipeline that supplies your own cheap energy.

Merkel and her gay band of GND acolytes should be swinging from the Black Forest trees for what they did to Germany’s energy environment.

Germany TRANS transitioned....

Trump made the Nordstream a bone of contention in 2016.

Biden destroyed one half of Nordstream.

The US provides military security for 4x the price of cheap Russia energy.

The EU is still using expensive Russian energy purchased thru Turkey, China, India or the middlemen who add 1% energy from another source (fumes in the ship or pipes) to Russian product and call it Legal energy.

Aside from the Green Scam Germany deserves the deindustralizastion it has reeped. When you scheme and lose you deserve to pay a high price.

The German consumer will listen to Musk and throw the bums out over a span of four years and forever break the hold of the German Socialist State Political Bubble.

China is building the cars people buy, Germany is building the cars sitting in the docks, lories, and filling lots to capacity to the point product has now stopped.

Germany and Obama destroyed the EU as an economic competitor to the US - the EU elites knew it would happen but sold out their citizens to line their own pockets destroying the economies and Ukraine in the process.

Agreed. And the lesson is also not to let your country become dependent on other nations' energy if you have plenty of energy.

Germany has plenty of coal deposits. Hating on coal meant hating on energy independence. (On that note, switching to more EV's might make sense for them, but only if they kept using dependable coal for power.)

IMHO, the only thing solar brings to the table is if we use it decentralized to make our individual homes more energy self-reliant. Those of us with a healthy distrust of government and their overregulation of energy can be forgiven for using solar to reduce some of the control the government's warmageddon cult policies have on my family and our budget. That's why I have lots of solar.
