DC Public Defender Represented 43 J6 Clients - All Pled Guilty
X ^

Posted on 01/06/2025 5:33:23 AM PST by TigerClaws

Meet Heather Shaner.

She is a DC Public Defender who has represented 43 J6 defendants who couldn’t afford real representation.

Shaner says it’s her job to “educate” J6ers, stating, “I mean, if you start out with a whole bunch of baloney and you don't know it's baloney, you're going to keep exercising your choices based on incorrect information”.

She has referred to people who went inside the building and took pictures as “schmucks”.

All of her J6 clients pled guilty.

When asked if her clients “deserve her”, she replied “They’re damn lucky if they get me,” with a laugh.

This is what J6ers have had to endure.

“Why didn’t WE raise defense funds for many of these people? The D’s do that all the time for their folks and it works. Why do we just seemingly throw up our hands and ‘let them fend & suffer.’”

Some J6ers tried to raise money on GoFundMe and were barred, although I think the site allowed others. GiveSendGo, a Christian crowdfunding site, stepped up and raised a lot of money.

The DOJ went after some J6ers who raised money, claiming defendants were “profiting” from J6. DOJ essentially argued that the only legitimate use of raised funds is direct legal expenses. What about lost wages? What about family members traveling to be close by? What about rebuilding your life even if you made a mistake that you regret? DOJ leveraged the threat of destroying defendant’s lives to get guilty pleas in exchange for leniency, but they also wanted to control what the defendants said, including claiming to be victims to raise money. Quite frankly, it is none of DOJ’s business if people want to give them money.

I think Trump should immediately release all of them with clemency, then review cases to give most if not all a full pardon, and then identify all who were wrongfully targeted and prosecuted so they can be compensated for this abuse of power. I think there should be a couple of hundred multi-millionaire activists who come from this group.

They can't call her by her real title: Assistant Prosecutor.

Word went around fast that any legitimate lawyers willing to defend J-6ers would find their careers in peril if not disbarred. Hence the clown car of D.C. "defenders" telling clients that if they won't plead guilty their sentences may stretch to decades or life.

There must have been a lot of high fives and envelope passing in the D.C bars where both sides flock to after hours.

Public defenders are a sham. I don’t see how they could ever put the interests of a defendant ahead of their employer.

Shameful. They should have all had the best of counsel — financed by Republicans. Instead, Republicans let them rot, many believing the lies about them. Some support was there, but it was not well organized — haphazard appeals for legal support of this or that prominent defendant.

This is exactly, PRECISELY how the Soviet “Justice” system was run.

That is how the Court System works from D.C. to Podunk, Arkansas. The P.D. is only there to plead you guilty as charged. Occasionally, they will take a case to trial, but for the most part, they are there to work out a deal for you to plead guilty.

This lowly qualified public “defender’ should be arrested and imprisoned for a few years before trial. What a pathetic loser.

There are 1.3 million lawyers in the USA. That’s a lot of crooks.

I haven’t listened to Glenn Beck since 2002 when my son lived in Conn. That being said, Trump is reported to be having a rally the day before his inauguration. Bad idea.

Yes, All public defenders are basically plea deal agents. They don’t have the staff to provide a vigorous defense for criminal charges.

She is clearly going to have a short career once some of those 43 get out the gulag... she will become just another murder victim in DC. But when they find 43 bullets in her they will wonder why.
