This one may be a doozy for some in the red zone. Be prepared. (That's my motto).

I doubt Texas power supplies will be up to handle this storm.

ERCOT has been notoriously unreliable.

62 million people under threat of major winter storm set to deliver season's most significant blow yet

Both Monica Lewinsky and Kamala Harris objected to the premise of this story....

I miss the days before Climate Change when these kinds of storms never happened.

/s (of course)

Side note: I’m not too far from that red band. So I went out earlier and filled up my car with a full tank of gas. And there is plenty of food in the pantry. As you noted, be prepared.

Ugh, had to turn it off as that weather lady sounds too much like AOC for us upper Midwest types. That entire mess is going beneath us but we’re gonna get the frigid cold for a month at least.

There's even concern about tornadoes associated with those thunderstorms.

https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/wwa/

Going to the link allows you to click on any area under a watch and get the forecast for that area.

The color coding is for the different types of severe weather predicted

This one ahs the potential to be particularly bad.

So let me get this straight.

It's January, there's a storm, and it will cause ice and snow?

Hoping folks prepare well, of course, that is critical.

It's winter.

In central AZ, highs for the next 10 days are either in the high 60’s or low 70’s. I blame Hunga Tonga.

yeah, yeah, yeah....a big storm brews 36 days after the solstice/the shortezt day of the year/ the declared beginning of winter.

its still ‘the deep of winter’, which usually does bring large storms, blizzards, and hazards for humans once outside their home’s door.

i remember a blizzard, and being stuck in a highway Glass Host restaurant in Rolling Prairie, Ind. in 1966.

Hence, from the first falling of tree leaves, till the arrival of Spring, that there might be a monster storm.

I hope the windmills and solar panels are up to the job of keeping people from freezing during the likely blackouts.
