Elon Musk bizarrely changed his X profile name to “Kekius Maximus” on Tuesday — sparking a flood of questions from supporters and critics alike.
The world’s richest man, who boasts nearly 210 million followers on the platform he has owned since 2022, also switched up his profile avatar to feature an image of the popular Pepe the Frog character clad in gladiator-like armor.
Musk, a confidant of President-elect Donald Trump, has yet to offer a full explanation for his sudden name change.
But there are a few hints.
Elon watchers online have suggested that the new moniker is a bizarre combination of Pepe the Frog and Russell Crowe’s character, Maximus Decimus Meridius, in the 2000 blockbuster “Gladiator.”
Musk’s new profile image shows Pepe the Frog clad in golden armor while holding a video game controller.
Pepe, which started off as simply a cartoon in the “Boy’s Club” comic series, allegedly became associated online with white supremacists and the alt-right during the 2016 presidential election.
The Anti-Defamation League dubbed the character a hate symbol and described it as the “Alt Right’s favorite meme.”

The guys got enough money he can act as goofy as he sees fit — or so it appears he feels fit to act goofy.
I like him a lot, but I can’t see how loopy behavior helps anything.
Stop digging Elon.
Oh good grief. “Kek” is how Horde players see the translation when Alliance players type in “Lol” in World of Warcraft. Musk is a gamer. That’s all this is.
Kek is the God of the Alt-Right, or at least was.
Seems adolescent to me.
Don’t know the gamer world at all. Hope Musk is having fun. Everyone needs a place to unwind from the pressures of life. Sounds healthy.
Musk is a typical aspergers person. They are very smart, particularly with math and numbers. They often act childish and out of control in small ways. They have difficulty making and keeping friends because living with them can be a chore. They have very little focus on clothing or lavish items and tend to overdo things. They can also anger easily as you can see. It never lasts long with them because they are always on to the next thing.
It really isn’t the money for Musk. He doesn’t buy mega yachts, walk around with designer clad women or live lavishly himself.
He just wants to build things mostly. His children make him happiest because they love unconditionally.
They are different animals.
I have an aspergers grandchild.
I like Kekius Maximus a lot better than Pierre Delecto, or Carlos Danger.
Maybe he watched the 136th Rose Parade presented by Honda, too.

There is also a character called “Brian Kek, CEO” in the mobile game Iron Maiden : Legacy Of The Beast, that is an obvious spoof of Elon Musk. This seems to be a more plausible answer to me.
Oh, grow up.
Why expect anyone else to do as you would? If you want that, get off your butt and run for office.
lol. Shut up ass... with evil/moron screen name.
Doubters???

keukeukeu) is the childish Korean equivalent of the English "haha". Since this is often used in StarCraft matches, Blizzard, StarCraft’s developers, decided to reference it in World of Warcraft: when a player of the Horde faction types "lol" using the /say messaging command, members of the opposing faction see it as "kek".[1]
Oh, you’re a glowie!
Outstanding, Martin!
🤣
Musks handle translates ungrammatically to "Laugh out Loud the Mostest!"
My Folk Etymology is that this falls in the category of a Humorous Korean Gamer - Faux-Latinism and a quite deliberate "Q" Trolling. He is wacking the MSM Hornets nest with his "Cue" stick and giving them another thing to mischaracterize and be offended with. This might be him yelling "Squirrel!" at the dogs of the left and changing the subject from imported engineers and immigrant visas.
OMG, you people!!!!!
LET ELON BE ELON and STFU.
Agree ... although I don't understand the 'Korean gamer' reference - probably my lack of interest in current popular culture..
