"When Will Trump Take Office? On MLK Day, Unfortunately," The Intelligencer's senior editor Margaret Hartmann lamented in a new piece.
Hartmann noted the "depressing" news that President-elect Donald Trump will be sworn in to his second, non-consecutive term in office on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The presidential inauguration sometimes falls on the federal holiday honoring Martin Luther King Jr., which takes place on the third Monday of January each year, close to King’s birthday on January 15.
"If you’re not a big fan of Donald Trump, you’ve probably gotten used to hearing a lot of stupid and/or depressing political news in recent months," she wrote in New York magazine's The Intelligencer. "I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but as the Biden administration comes to a close, there’s another unpleasant fact that may not have dawned on you: The second Trump inauguration will take place on January 20, 2025, which is Martin Luther King Jr. Day."
But instead, Hartmann regrets, "we’ll be swearing in the guy who spent the first MLK Day of his presidency golfing, and who recently bragged that his pre-insurrection speech on January 6, 2021, drew a bigger crowd than King’s ‘I Have a Dream’ speech (which isn’t true)."
Trump defeated Harris by 312 to 226 electoral votes, carrying all seven swing states in the process, and also won the popular vote.

Idiot doesn’t know that Martin Luther King’s birthday is the 15th, not the 20th. It falls on the 20th, because liberals always have to have a three-day weekend, and have changed national holidays like Washington’s and Lincoln’s birthday so they fall on a Monday or Friday. They even combined both President’s birthdays so they could give MLK, Jr. a holiday, completely changing Lincoln’s and Washington’s birthdys from the initial dates of the 12th and 22nd of February. When I was a kid, their birthdays were celebrated on the actual dates they were born. Like everything else, RATS, and their Rino buddies have to bastardize everything.
And don’t forget that grotesque statue in DC...It’s just wrong...it doesn’t belong there.
You'd think they'd be pissed that MLK day is being celebrated on the 20th, and not his actual birthday on the 15th. Isn't it racist to change the celebration of a black man's birthday in order to get a three-day weekend?
Indeed.
If the Democrats had left MLK Day on the 15th this would never happen but...
Boise State v Oregon.
*sob*
MLK day is 15 Jan. It is observed on the nearest Monday. It took one of the presidential days washing
Tom and or Lincoln which used to be breaks in February needed in the winter and not moved to the nearest Monday which it now is
Now it is a 3 day ski weekend intruding on what is historically and traditionally t inauguration day. The 29 th of Jan high noon
That was there, scheduled, long before MLK was even born
Oh, no, we wouldn’t want to spoil the day of a Christ denying, commie coddling woman beater.
Make sure your doc has a “white lives matter” sign on the wall next to the medical school certificate.
Otherwise you are on your own.
:-)
Fredrick Douglas deserves the day.
Yet another miracle and sign from God. They happen all the time.
Won’t interfere with the MLK celebration where I live.
Even though that minority population here is above the 13 per cent national mark.
They once had a parade which was amusing as the middle of January is not the best day to schedule a parade here in the heartland for folk whose ancestors came from territories around the equator.
Then as participation waned as the participants aged, the “celebration” was held inside with a breakfast.
But the best I can tell that wasn’t held the last couple of years as I am positive the local media would have covered it as those folks are always looking to push diversity.
Can’t wait until LeBron hears about Trump’s inauguration being on MLK Day.
You know the crybaby is going to proclaim,”That’s our day.”
The guy who wanted people to be judged by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin?
Marcus Garvey has the strongest credentials.
He declared himself the “Provisional President of Africa” ya know.

Cedric the Entertainer levels with everyone about Rosa Parks, Jesse Jackson and OJ.
Sorry. Has a couple of adult bad words.
And “I wouldn’t say any of this in front of white folks.”
“There are three things that Black people need to tell the truth about. Number one: Rodney King should’ve gotten his ass beat for being drunk in a Hyundai in a white part of Los Angeles. Number two: O.J. did it! And number three: Rosa Parks didn’t do nuthin’ but sit her Black azz down!”

“And number three: Rosa Parks didn’t do nuthin’ but sit her Black azz down!”
Ya. but she was the one thar set it
In other words, a typical AWFL (affluent white liberal/leftist female).
Rosa Parks.
Henry Ford Museum in Michigan (one of my favorite places along with adjoining Greenfield Village) has the actual bus where Rosa Parks made history, with a sign at the seat.
Part of a section of civil rights history including enlarged photos of white, black and Asian people standing with MLK at events.

....”..Lee-Jackson-King Day was a holiday celebrated in the Commonwealth of Virginia from 1984 to 2000 as a combination of Lee-Jackson Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day.....”
...We lived in The Old Dominion for many years and even as transplanted Yankees, we honored this now-defunct holiday....As far as I am concerned, for this year, as in all previous years, MLK day does not exist...I would love to see Mr. Trump’s inauguration, but as far as honoring the adulterer and plagiarizer, MLK, stuff it......
