The Thompson
Patty Hearst, heard the burst.....
THAT is EXACTLY the model….
Simply badass.
I’ve got a couple pics of my old man (Airborne WWII) holding one of those.
Very nice!
All it takes is about $30k and a $200 stamp after about a years wait. Life is always a matter of choices!
Oh, and BTW will never be worth less imho!
My next door neighbor bought one on line and asked Fed ex to deliver it here where I could sign for it. Fed Ex said no.
He did get it delivered eventually and I had the opportunity to get the feel of it. It was heavy, very heavy
Oh the CHOICE is not the problem…
The MONEY , however….
Re heavy:
I had the opportunity to shoot a few Thompson SMGs at a range several years back; a ‘28A1, and a later M1A1. Yes they are heavy, but I still thought fairly comfortable. Both had stick mags, so I didn’t get the drum experience (the ‘28 could use either stick or drum; the M1A1 used the stick only).
The BAR that I shot there also, now that was a beast of a rifle… way too much fun!!
RE .47 MAGA:
I remember the old saying, years ago, “why do you carry a 45?”
And the answer was “because they don’t make a 46“ lol!
And then Smith & Wesson came out with the .460.
So you might just get your wish with a .47!!!
I’ve shot an M3A1 “Grease gun” SMG. Much, much lighter and a bit slower cyclic rate. Suppressed, too.
They’re cool hardware, but Colonel Thompsons Masterpiece is the Prom Date of dreams….
A Reising M50 would also be fun to have; unfortunately, they didn’t perform too well in the Pacific, so they shipped most of them back home and replace them with Thompson’s… I think the Navy still kept a bunch of them on board ships, but most wound up in police departments back home. You don’t see too many of those anymore, so the prices can be ridiculous.
Does it fit inside a guitar case?
Those are kool - I want one too - but they suck to actually use.
Re suck to use:
Depending on which side of the muzzle you’re on, I’d say yes you’re correct.
I would say many German, Japanese, North Korean, and Chinese communist troops would also completely agree with that…
My old man loved his. Paratrooper, WWII. Those guys were always in CQB situations. He was 5’ 6” built like a brick **** house, and carried that everywhere.
Yeah they were okay for close combat in 1940s, and they’re the best range toys.
That said, .45 ACP is heavy, slow, inaccurate and not at all what you want in a modern fight.
Re 45:
It’s also subsonic, easily suppressed, and hits like a freight train in CQB.
