Frum reasoned that if the allegations about Hegseth's drinking are true, it's 'a startling and shameful shirking of responsibility on a matter of grave national importance. What's the appropriate language to call it out?'

The "appropriate language to call it out" is to wait for proof that the allegation is true. It is inappropriate to use the allegation as the sole basis to launch attacks on an opponent.

This has become the left's standard operating procedure. Someone makes an allegation based on anonymous sources just so that their partisans in the LAAP-dog media can use the allegation to further their attacks. Nobody waits for proof anymore.

Guilt isn't necessary to tank someone's nomination. The game now is to see who can levy the most outrageous allegations, and then use those allegations in place of any proof of guilt.
