A clip from Billy Bob Thornton’s new show "Landman" went viral on X for slamming the use of renewable energy like wind turbines, that are intended to combat the effects of climate change.
"They use clean energy to power the oil wells?" Kayla Wallace’s character said in the scene of the show.
"They use alternative energy. There is nothing clean about this," Billy Bob Thornton’s character said.
"Please, Mr. Oilman, tell me how the wind is bad for the environment?" Kayla Wallace replied.
Thornton’s "Tommy Norris" responded, "You have any idea how much diesel will have to burn to mix that much concrete or make that steel and haul this s–t out here and put it together with a 450-foot crane? You want to guess how much oil it takes to lubricate that f---ing thing? Or winterize it? In its 20-year lifespan, it won’t offset the carbon footprint of making it. And don’t get me started on solar panels and the lithium in your tesla battery."
"Landman," a rural America drama created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, details the life of the billionaire Norris family as they interact with power players in the oil rig industry in West Texas.
Sheridan, the creator of the hit TV series "Yellowstone," announced he had plans for "Landman" back in 2022. The show is based off the podcast Boomtown, a documentary series about oil rigs in west Texas and the wealthy people that own them.
"If Exxon thought them f---ing things right there were the future, they would be put all over the g--damn place," Thornton's "Tommy Norris" added.
The scene sparked a debate on X, which saw users praising and criticizing the clip.
"Taylor Sheridan’s new show ‘Landman’ hits Billy Bob Thornton with an epic monologue..."

Without subsidies, Nobody would build turbines, or solar energy farms. If you remove the costs that government adds to the production and usage of oil and natural gas, their ROI would be higher. If you remove the subsidies that government gifts to Wind, Solar and Biomass it becomes unsupportable.
If you want to keep the power on, you use Coal, Hydro and Nuclear. If you want the country and billions to die, you rely on the falsely named renewables.
“Tommy Norris” barely scratched the surface of how environmentally bad “alternative” energy is.
But it was a good rant and it might start people thinking about the climate hoax.
WOW. Eye opening.
You guys don’t hate the windmills like I do.
We regularly drive the Columbia River Gorge and the wild scenic beauty is destroyed.
We regularly drive through the eastern Washington Palouse hills and the scenic beauty is being wiped out.
We regularly drive through the California Altamont Pass and have watched that incredible scenic beauty wiped out over the past 40 years.
We occasionally drive through the magnificent Sacramento River Delta and have seen that gorgeous area DESTROYED.
About half the time those infernal machines are not turning. The average capacity factor of all wind machines is 28%. Would you invest in an asset that produces only 28% of its nameplate rating? Of course you wouldn’t…unless the government subsidies made up for the crappy economics.
In 20-30, years the nation will be a forest of 300 foot tall rusting towers and millions of tons of concrete in the ground. It will take a multi-hundred billion dollar Superfund III to clean up the mess because all the wind companies will have gone Chapter Seven.
I hate them too.
The blades are made of fiberglass and wood. Acres of crops aren’t destroyed when a blade fails.
That said, the whole thing is a grift and the numbers only work for someone stupid enough the be a congressman.
Beth is wickedly nasty. But, I have a soft spot in my heart for heart for her ever since she beat the tar out of the annoying environmental activist.
Magnificent speech - every damned Leftard and enviro-wacko should be required to watch this.. 50 times.
I didn't turn it on because the left hates it and I'm not recommending it because it's "Trumpy" (DJT is NEVER mentioned, fwiw).
I'm recommending it because BBT heads an awesome case supported by great writers.
5 stars.
And thanks for posting this, btw.
I’d have never seen it or turned it on (just finished E4 this moment).
Dittos to that. Haven't caught Landman yet, but the previews look good - being a Taylor Sheridan ('Yellowstone') product. Plenty of "Trumpy" anti-PC good stuff on 'Yellowstone'. Hubby and I continue to be amazed how such an un-PC show ever made it to air in today's Hollyweird.
:-D
Stop and do the math.
a single windmill will produce 3MW per year and last 20 years. that’s 60MW total.
figure out how much steel it takes to produce one windmill (google: 200 tons per windmill).
then figure out the energy just to make the steel (google: 4MW per ton)
doesn’t seem to come close to a net positive in energy production.
Same old routine...
A lefty moonbat comes up with a scatterbrained idea.
Congress votes a ton of money for grants into the project, without any knowledge of viability.
Nancy Pelosi tells select groups of “friends” on both sides of the aisle which companies (owned by Democrats) will prosper.
3/4 of Congress invests in those companies, and in 2-3 years reap millions each.
Obama, Pelosi, Hillary, and the rest now own those Congress people.
Rinse, and repeat.
example: Solyndra, anybody?
“And, FWIW, I hate these damn windmills.”
No kidding. Your are enjoying a ride in your car, looking at the beautiful scenery and over the next hill you see a massive line of windmills on the horizon. With about a third of them not even working. Realizing it’s a communist sham.
They will never pay for themselves. Two things are accomplished with them, however. First the useful idiots feel good about them. Second someone is getting rich off of them.
If you're talking about Kayce, he's still very much alive.
Additionally, An automobile plant that produces 1,000 vehicles per day can use hundreds of thousands of megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity per year.
-——If Exxon thought them f-—ing things right there were the future, they would be put all over the g—damn place,” Thornton’s “Tommy Norris” added.-——
I’m pretty sure that Boone Pickens did that very thing, collecting the credits and federal money and then selling out.
The thing is, as you travel east across the Texas pan handle, the wind mills go on for miles and miles and miles as far as you can see on each side of the road.
I’m talking Lee Dutton who was shot in season 1, episode 1.
