Both Russia and Ukraine have been escalating their bloody conflict, now past the 1,000-day mark, seeking maximum advantage before Jan. 20, when President-elect Donald Trump will take office and probably bring a different U.S. policy toward the war. For Russia, escalation is about saving face — expelling Ukrainian forces from Russia’s Kursk region — and grabbing as much Ukrainian territory it can. For Ukraine, it’s a matter of surviving with its sovereignty and as much of its preinvasion territory as possible.
Escalation might be a hard concept to grasp in a savage struggle that has led to an estimated 1 million casualties. Russian President Vladimir Putin began raising the stakes this fall when he invited thousands of North Korean troops to augment his thinly stretched and decimated military. Ukraine responded with strikes inside Russian territory using British and American long-range missiles, albeit only after the Biden administration finally lifted its restriction on the use of such weaponry. The Russians have responded by firing a new medium-range, hypersonic ballistic missile — thankfully not armed with the nuclear warheads such missiles are capable of carrying — at a Ukrainian weapons factory in Dnipro. President Joe Biden has agreed to provide Ukraine with antipersonnel land mines, weapons with a record of causing civilian casualties, but also perhaps the only things that can help Ukraine hold its lines against Russian and North Korean infantry assaults.
The reason for this surge in fighting is clear: Mr. Trump seems inclined to strike a quick deal to end the conflict once he takes office. He has been vague about what an eventual deal would look like, promising only that he would swiftly solve the conflict upon...

Agreed. I got nothing against Ukrainians, and I don’t give a crap about russians either. Let Europe handle European issues. They gor their european Union to compete with us. Let them solve their own problems and then maybe they can learn to get along with out Daddy USA footing the bill in men and money.

They will try, but it won’t work. The people of the US didn’t elect Biden to make a fool of the country in Afghanistan. In fact, it wasn’t an issue, it was just another useless, low-grade, Neocon war.
Ukraine is different, it is EXPENSIVE, it is leaving our ALLIES EXPOSED to their enemies, and it may well wind up getting the US and Europe blown off the map.
...and just like virtually all of the other Neocon Wars, no one seems able to explain why it’s so important to Soros, much less the leaders of the West.

Washington DC desperately wants a Frozen conflict, or a cease-fire. The losing side needs time for a breather, to re-arm and rebuild. The DC and London axis intends to exploit that time to bring Ukraine into NATO and base US and British forces there as advisers and trainers etc.. And we’re really not offering anything in return for freezing the conflict. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out.
They will get Trump in any case. They will call it a Putin victory because of Trump. Zelensky will denounce Trump’s peace and call for WW III. Its the Sudenten Land all over again. Hitler Trump or worse—Putin is Hitler and Trump is Mussolini. Just another way to try to thwart Trump and MAGA. Impeachment with the union of Liberal Progs and RINO Republicans in the Senate. RUSSIA,Russia, Russia all over again.
Any deal is better than a nuclear exchange. We have let this thing go way too far.
It hasn’t bothered me at all so far. Except for all the money the government has stolen from me to send to them.
An the Washington Post is willing to give the lives of countless others to get the deal it wants, however long it takes.
And as we all know, the WaPo and the NYTimes are the house organs for the CIA and the Deep State. Anything I read in those publications I always first assume some Deep Stater is sending out information it wants deliberately out there. This is no exception.
