Although it was not the first massively multiplayer online role-playing game (a genre known as MMORPG) when it was released in 2004, World of Warcraft was an instant success, quickly attracting several million players worldwide.
s it celebrates its 20th birthday, online video game World of Warcraft has demonstrated a rare longevity thanks to its loyal following and constant evolutions.
"It is inspiring to be able to work on this rare game that has touched so many lives, and to also feel the burden of carrying that forward," Ion Hazzikostas, the current director of the game, told AFP at the Gamescom trade show in Germany in August. As an early fan of WoW, he joined California-based Blizzard, the American developer of the title, in 2008 before climbing the ranks.

I still play Diablo 1
I spent years wasted on WOW. I might like to play WOW classic. I would get sucked in and waste way too much time. I loved the game. If they ever combine WOW type addictive game with virtual reality, and AI buddies/players that match your skill and character - we would lose half our population in an inception kind of way. If you have an addictive personality don’t start WOW.
I remember seeing young people waste a large part of their childhood playing this game. It was very sad.
I was interested in WOW, but never got into it. I’m a completionist when playing such a game. So, when they started replacing elements of the game with other elements, I chose to not play it at all because I would be annoyed that some characters had items that I could never get unless I paid cash from a mod site.
I enjoyed the game a lot. Morningthaw server.
Played Asherons Call and ultima online before that.
Too old now. 😁
Perhaps it is too risque, but my only experience with WoW was this song.
The Internet is for porn

Two men I worked with destroyed their lives to the addiction of that game. Not saying it is bad as they were socially awkward gents. But in Warcraft, they were somebody and very powerful “people.” . It just shows anything can be addictive.
So do I.......but I can't get past the old king fairly early in the game. I think he's the 2nd boss after the Butcher. There must be a trick to it, but I don't know what it is. After getting my butt stomped over and over I just give up and play something else.
I’ve completed the monk, in terms of being armoured up and maximum power in magic.
I’m currently working on the warrior.
If you PM me, I will tell you about the duplicate trick if you do not know about it.
I played from 2006 to 2014. It was fun, but way too time consuming. I haven’t spent any time on a game since then, until I discovered Valheim on the Apple App Store. I’m really loving this one now.
Never played WoW... But I spent a lot of time playing EverQuest.
Diablo II is still fun to boot up and play with 4 people on the home network every now and then.
I’ve been playing Elder Scrolls Online exclusively for the last couple of years. I love it. It’s my first MMORPG game. I held off even though my friends were playing WoW because they were playing from 10pm to 5am every day and I know myself well enough to know that I’d do the same. Now that I’m old(er), I’ve got other priorities and can walk away.
LEEEEE-ROY JENKINS!!!!!!!!
I still log in to Runescape now and then. It started in 1998 but the thing I liked about it was you could do your own thing at your own pace.
And it’s the only game I know where the history of the game was more monumental than the game itself. Anyone that played recall the Falador riots of 2006?
