Mr. Edsall clearly displays the reliance of the Democrat Party on identity politics and the very reason that America should avoid it. Per Mr. Edsall, Kamala lost because she was a black woman. He offers nothing to support her based on qualification. He ignores the fact that prior to assuming the nomination her approval rating was the lowest in history for any Vice President. He therefore present no basis for her approval ratings significantly jumping based only on the fact that she was assuming the Democrat Party nomination for President. It seems the only element changing was that she was a black woman running for president; identity politics on display.

The trouble with that is that R’s in congress will probably force floor votes on several very focused bills that force a vote on transgender crap, pronouns, free speech etc.

D Congress critters will be forced to vote for the bills to maintain their lie (alienating the 50% of D’s who are bat shit crazy) or to vote No, thereby revealing their own craziness.

D governors who control their state legislatures and prevent a bill coming to their desk will be more protected as presidential candidate as they can hide their positions until after they are elected. Polis, Whitmer and Shapiro come to mind. Polis has a heavy D majority and Shapiro and Whitmer control one house of the state legislature. So they don’t have to worry about signing or vetoing cultural marxist issues. Newsome has already crossed that Rubicon so those commercials are already written if he runs in 2028.
