Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has sued a court-appointed bankruptcy trustee and the families of some of the Sandy Hook victims in an attempt to stop the sale of his media empire Infowars to the satirical news outlet The Onion.
In a lawsuit filed Monday in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, Jones claimed trustee Christopher Murray and the families “colluded” for a “flagrantly non-compliant Frankenstein bid” and asked a judge to halt the sale.
The parent company of Infowars was auctioned off last week as part of bankruptcy proceedings to help pay some of the nearly $1.5 billion Jones owes the families of the victims of the Sandy Hook massacre for defamation.
According to court documents, The Onion, via its parent company Global Tetrahedron, offered $1.75 million in cash along with a “credit” from the Connecticut families, who offered to forgo 100% of their portion of the winning bid to support the effort.
The one other competing bid, at $3.5 million, came from First United American Companies, which is affiliated with Jones and operates his lucrative online nutritional supplements store.
But The Onion, according to a copy of its bid filed as evidence by Jones, said their bid should be valued at closer to $7 million considering the families’ credit. Jones’ attorneys argued that The Onion’s math to reach such a figure is “nonsense.”

BS.
The Onion “auction” was not authorized by the judge, and it was not a real auction. The Onion was not the highest bid and they did not have the cash as was stipulated by the judge.
The tide has turned against the lawfare criminals. Jones has filed multiple lawsuits against lawyers and government agencies, and, unlike the fake trials held against him, they are for real crimes.
We live in interesting times.
Since Jones doesn’t plan to pay his debts, he does not look at debt forgiveness as part of a payment. He has already forgiven his fat repulsive self.
Let me try that again:
Bankruptcy law is my field, and it’s rather simple - maximizing value for creditors is the only objective in liquidation. Humiliating the debtor is not factored in. Since the families are the vast majority of the creditor pool, it’s hard to understand how they could favor a lower bid.
I posted the CNN article but thought it had some interesting figures when seeing past the spin...
“ The Onion “auction” was not authorized by the judge…”
In bankruptcy that goes to auction, the judge literally presides over the auction or I think the judge can appoint someone in his stead.
It is scheduled well in advance and it must be “advertised” in such a way that interested parties, not already associated with the case, are informed.
All of this is to protect the rights of the creditors so that the maximum amount is returned in the auction.
Any amount over what is owed goes to the bankrupt company.
The judge had no idea the "auction" had taken place, and he was pissed and said it was not valid. The Onion went so far as to shut Infowars down and kick everyone out. Then they returned it and told Alex they were sorry and "no hard feelings" after spending years trying to destroy Alex and his family.
At this point the hunters have become the hunted. This is going to be fun.
Whoa, what got into your bonnet? Jones was railroaded and you blame the victim? Get over yourself.
“ The judge had no idea the “auction” had taken place, and he was pissed and said it was not valid.”
That’s right. I was explaining how it actually works and why the supposed auction wasn’t even legal.
Bankruptcy judges probably aren’t political operatives like the judges Trump had to deal with.
I knew that. I was just venting because the whole thing is so infuriating.
Alex Jones' trial was the proof-of-concept for the lawfare they conducted against Trump. The Sandy Hook ambulance chaser even called him "patient zero" and publicly stated that they didn't want money, they wanted him silenced forever. They even made an offer to drop the case if he acquiesced and came out against the second amendment and would say what they wanted him to say.
It's money that they have not received yet and will never receive. The bankruptcy sale is supposed to be used to cover as much of the debt as possible and discharge the rest of the judgement. They ambulance chasers want it both ways. They want to steal infowars but not discharge the debt, which defeats the purpose of bankruptcy. They have declared that the thirteenth amendment does no apply to Jones and they own him and his identity.
It is so much easier in the past few years to discern actual facts from bull Obamastuff. Seeing “CNN” is one very easy way to simply disregard the article.
It’s like they make Jan 6 protestors say they believe Biden was legitimately elected.
If these people get ginormous payouts, then what about President Trump and the "Dossier" and the "51 Intelligence Guys", etc. etc. President Trump should be paid the half GDP of New York State and California combined.
“ maximizing value for creditors is the only objective in liquidatioN”
Exactly.
What is your opinion about the credit from the families being used to value the winning bid?
Can’t the bankruptcy judge mandate that the bid that provides the most money for the creditors be accepted?
The judge had not even decided yet which components could be included in the auction. He was planning on having hearings about that. They never happened. Also the actual unrealized money that Onion used to bid was to come from a different judgement that is under appeal according to Jones.
Jones did it to himself
His comments were beyond outrageous. I quit listening to him at that point
