Ah, Thanksgiving. The time of year for appreciation, family, and a major food coma has arrived once again. Imagine a prolific spread of family favorites, some passed on from generation to generation and some new additions, and at the center of it all, the turkey.

You Tube. “Friends”. Ross’ Thankgiving leftover sandwich is stolen....
Ping!
Thank you.
My sandwich????!!!!
Wife and I just do a Butterball boneless turkey breast, with a southwestern rub and orange juice basting sauce.
Dressing made on the side with cognac cranberry sauce is my wife’s task.
Plenty of food for the two of us.
Once the kids all married, the Thanksgiving Schedule is always in flux.
We decided not to torture them with a second traditional turkey dinner (and make ourselves do all the work).
We grill lamb chops, make sweet potato casserole, fresh salad, etc.
Everyone loves it.
Once grandkids exploded, I need a bigger grill! Lamb. chops for 16!
One year I decided to just do a turkey breast. Then, last minute, there were a few more guests. So I had to buy another one. Spent more for the two breasts than I would have for the whole turkey.
Still, all the ‘best’ meat and not so cumbersome to move around and carve, etc.
I put the whole thing in the fridge after the meal on Thursday. Then it takes me about an hour to warm up the carcass and pull the meat off. A pile for sandwiches and the rest gets made into turkey and noodles. But usually a couple weeks after Thanksgiving when the overloaded-with-turkey feeling has waned.
Probably going to do #16 for Thanksgiving this year as youngest son got a frozen turkey from work and forgot it in his car for 2 days. Guess what we’re having for dinner tomorrow? HAHA!
I buy those little 2-3 pound ones all bundled up. In a netting toe hold them together.
Never, ever remove that net until cooked, as i found out to my embarrassment. Now, I just loosen it to get the rub in there.
If you live in the southeast, Publix has a smoked turkey breast sometimes.
That got me laughing right away.
Oh, does it have the maggot stuffing?
Why don’t you just declare an early Thanksgiving?
My youngest used to call them gamish corn hens when she was little.
I bought a turkey today for the freezer - it was LESS than a dollar a pound. And I'm with you on this - the leftovers and turkey sammichs are as good or better than the meal.
too flat to stuff... it’s road pizza...
