Plenty of people knew about Alex Jones. He had claimed that 9-11 was an ‘inside job’ almost as soon as it happened; and if I recall correctly, that’s why we were not allowed to post links to his stuff here.
People can bring a civil suit about almost anything. If someone were telling a lie that defamed your character, you might file suit too.
Turns out The Onion made a fraudulent bid.
One of the requirements for bidding was to have the cash in the bank to pay immediately.
The Onion said they don’t have the money, but that they will get it from the one billion dollar judgement that Jones is supposed to pay.
This is completely illegal and defeats the purpose of Alex’s bankruptcy. The purpose of the bankruptcy is to discharge Jone’s obligation to pay the judgement. Never mind everything else, they want it both ways. They want to take his platform in bankruptcy, but they don’t want to discharge the judgement. They want to get everything he owns AND still get the judgement.
The judge was incredulous and said the sale was not valid.

You don’t have to know what has been said, at the time it is said, to prove defamation. People sue all the time about things that happened in the past that they weren’t aware of until later.
As for why Infowars is no longer anathema on FR, that was a management decision by Mr. Robinson. I suspect it is because the conservative community has moved away from the Bush/Dole/Romney/McCain Republican Party and the older consensus of National Review and the AM talk radio of 10-20 years ago. The rise of podcasts and blogs and the effect of Trump transformed the conservative media world.
Disregarding that, how did whatever he said cause a billion dollars worth of harm?
By the way, dollars to donuts you don't even know what it is he said (all of Jone's shows are available on recordings), and you probably don't even know the name of the demon who actually murdered the Sandy Hook children.
It's amazing how many psychos are enraged that Jones said something or other, but are not enraged by the actual killer.

I knew about him long before 2012, and I live in a very liberal area, too.

I always considered Infowars to be a satirical site.
I know what is reported that he said; and I know that he admitted it in court by saying that it was ‘crazy’ for him to have said it.
Would he testify against himself, under oath?

Your video doesn’t prove that the engineers are wrong who claim that it was debris falling on it and fire starting that caused the collapse.
Why would it have been collapsed intentionally?
