My uber-lib sister te,Ted me today asking.me to honestly tell.her if I voted for Trump. I replied to her what my late mother-in-law used to tell pollsters and others who asked who she was going to vote for, "I voted by secret ballot".
She sent me a screed describing in detail what was going to happen to the world and to women, now that Trump was going to be in office.
She never wants to speak to me again, as she now thinks I'm a misogynist, A Nazi, and a Christian Nationalist. I have been trying to keep peace between me and her, but this blew that to smithereens.
It does make me very sad.
You are losing your sister over not setting proper boundaries long ago. Noone who has known you since childhood should question your ability to form your own opinions. I set those boundaries with my family in my teens i can and will make my own decisions in matters of conscience.
My sister did the same to me and my family the first time Trump was president. She was homebound and placed in front of a tv set to watch garbage all day. Everytime we went to visit, she’d tell us how terrible Trump was and what he was going to do to America. My sister also was mentally ill and we knew it. At 73 she was on depression medication that finally killed her. If she was alive today, she’d be screaming like the rest of the democrats. When you understand it’s a mental disorder, you can deal with it. There was no amout of persuasive tactics we could use to tell her things were going to be fine. She was brainwashed by the media she had trusted all of those years.
Every family has people like this. They have lost their way and become a social autoimmune disease. Often of far worse consequences, they lose their faith and have traded God for the Golden Calf of socialism and its empty satanic promises.
Pray for them but steer clear of them for as long as you can.
You didn’t lose your sister. She chose to go to the Dark Side, driven there by the evil rhetoric of the Elites. Just tell her you are always there. It was her decision alone

I disagree with being mean to a family member. It seems like spite to me. That’s not going to solve this problem, whereas kindness might make a dent. I get along with every one of my siblings (5) and their spouses. Husband’s family, too. He has 4 siblings.

AND my middle sister (who I get along with) is half woke, recently disclosed that she’s pro-choice but would “probably have to vote Trump.” WTF!

It happens. Sorry. Some folks can’t bring themselves to do any investigating. Others simply don’t like him. I sometimes flinch at his comments but know he wants the best for everybody.
