Trump has big plans for ‘day one’ on immigration, energy and more

President-elect Trump is expected to get to work immediately upon taking office enacting major changes on immigration, energy and foreign policy.

Trump late last year suggested he would not rule as a dictator “except for day one,” a sign he intends to use executive authority aggressively to implement changes to immigration policy and energy policy in particular.

Trump has also signaled he would move swiftly to roll back protections for transgender youth, and he would fire the man prosecuting a criminal case against him.

Here’s a look at what Trump has said he will do “on day one.”

Energy and climate measures

Trump has pledged on day one to “drill, baby, drill,” a vague campaign slogan that signals he will seek to further ramp up oil production from already record-setting levels. He has also outlined more specific steps he will take to reverse Biden-era environmental regulations.

On his campaign website, Trump included a pledge to “roll back every Biden policy that is brutalizing American autoworkers” on day one. Trump has repeatedly signaled he would seek to roll back regulations requiring automakers to meet certain emissions standards that incentivize increased electric vehicle production.

Trump in August said he would eliminate a Biden administration rule cracking down on planet-warming emissions and other pollution from power plants. During his time in the White House, Trump issued significantly less stringent rules for power plants.

At a New Jersey rally earlier this year, Trump told the crowd he would sign an executive order on “day one” to halt windmill projects, targeting a key source of clean energy.

Trump could also move to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accords once again, taking the U.S. out of the global pact to lower emissions. Trump pulled out of the accords during his first term...

Good....The idea that man can AND SHOULD control the climate is absurd.

This dumb clock change is another brilliant, worthless effort to "CONTROL" what God does naturally. It's like we're saying that MAN should decide when the sun rises and sets...not God. "And we're here to help". lol

Agreed. Trump’s EO’s undoing Brandon’s restrictive EO’s makes Trump more of a liberator.

We have seen this before. Paul’s letter to the Romans, chapter 1, they worshipped the creature (Mother Earth) rather than the creator. This is not new.

HELICOPTER RIDES!

I remember hearing about that, when I was over there. Day 1, declare all those slime balls, Hamas, Hezbollah, PIJ, Houthis, etc, as terrorist groups, if they aren’t already. Cut off all aid to Palestinians and UNRWA. Pardon all political J6 prisoners. There may be a few that belong in jail, but maybe 95%, are simply political prisoners. Drill baby drill. Stronger sanctions on Iran and Russia. Stop green energy. Start naming names, of those on the Lolita Express. Start arresting human traffickers Can anyone think of anything else, for day 1? 😇

I couldn’t be happier that Trump has big plans. We need them.

I should not waste my time posting but the time change twice a year is a glaring example of how tone deaf, inept and worthless this government is. Rubio, in one of his few moments of inspiration, floated a bill to eliminate the twice annual time change and return us to just year-round DST or "summer time". That bill has been stalled since 2022.

Congress can't even pass a bill that makes sense and is wanted by a large majority of people. How can they ever move fast enough to make real and good and lasting changes to the mountain of problems we face? They can't, they are a failed process and failed people.

Who wants more daylight in the evening when we can use it anyway?

It should remain on standard time all year round. It's not like we don't have lights available all over the place. That's the natural time for our bodies.

I notice it because I have to change my GPS unit twice a year to accommodate these ignorant politicians.

All the good he did with the border and energy can easily be reversed as we saw with the election loss in 2020.

Most important for long term change, is Election Integrity Reform. So the good that we do is not something easily reversed with the next election.

Isn’t that the first thing Biden did when he took office? Rolled back Trump’s policies?

Yes. And in some ways, Biden rolled back Obama's energy policies too. Mainly in terms of natural gas. This is the main reason I started a plan to be more energy self-reliant with my home and later in my driving.

Obama's EPA forced many power companies to shut down some of their coal plants and replace them with plants fueled by "clean burning natural gas". (This happened in Alabama too.) Plus, the Dims did ads encouraging people to do more of their home heating and cooking with "clean burning natural gas" over dirty power. Yet while Trump was in office, the Dims did a 180 on natural gas and started talking like it was killing us all. So in Biden's first week he issued multiple EO's making it harder to drill for natural gas (and oil).

I watched my natural gas bill go up, my power bill go up (because the power company passes their fuel costs onto the consumers), and my gasoline cost at the pump go up. Not only were Biden's handlers at war with Trump's policies, the Dims couldn't make up their minds on a simple thing like natural gas. They were clearly changing their own rules to make it harder and more expensive for us plebes to obtain energy. This was obvious to me in Biden's first week.
