Like they kept the J6 committee in check? Congress is empowered to compose legislation and enact it. They are not empowered to conduct partisan witch-hunts and ruin the lives of hundreds of people. Those guardrails of democracy need to be restored, and Liz Cheney's actions as part of the J6 committee need to be fully investigated.
