Yum Brands said Thursday it would be removing fresh onions from its meals at select Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC restaurants out of “abundance of caution” following an E.coli outbreak tied to McDonald’s Quarter Pounder hamburgers.
The E.coli outbreak has killed at least one person and sickened nearly 50 others across the West and Midwest.
McDonald’s removed the Quarter Pounder, which contains fresh onions, from its menu in Colorado, Kansas, Utah and Wyoming, and in parts of Idaho, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico and Oklahoma.

I hate onions and never buy them but I do buy dried onion flakes encase someone wants onions ,LOL
quite a coincidence of the timing of the outbreak.
It’s almost like McDonald’s is getting punished for something.
Bugs are safe.
I’ve read elsewhere that the supplier, Taylor Farms, hasn’t found e.coli in any of their own tests.
Regardless, they are screwed
Providing processed fresh vegetables to large corporations and retail outlets are low-margin businesses, that hold incredible asymmetric risk.
FDA and trial lawyers will come down on them like a ton of bricks.
Jeeze, life would suck without onions for flavor that you can’t get from anything else.
>> quite a coincidence
like the stars being forced to promote Kamala
Powder or flakes work.
Every cuisine in the world uses onions. How con
you not like onions?
Isn’t it odd that McDonald’s suffers this ecoli outbreak - first ever in my memory - just days after President Trump’s shift on Sunday? Im not wearing a tin-foil hat, but maybe I should start.
Do you know what the odds are that multiple locations in different states all had such poor sanitary/handling procedures and practices at the same time versus contamination coming from one location? Okay I don’t know the odds either but I would bet very high. And knowing more than a little about McDonals sanitation and food handling procedures I would still bet on the supplier being the culprit, just like past vegetable related E- Coli outbreaks in other fast food operations.
But it’s still Trump’s fault for making fries at the McDonalds in Pennsylvania, right? Or is it that the azho far left is doing too many drugs?
Man, there’s NEVER been so much coverage of a generally small scale e-coli outbreak as this one. The cause has been identified as an onion supplier (migrant workers in the fields?) to different end users. The products have been pulled and the threat has been mitigated for at least two weeks. But, the press wants to keep this story alive as long as possible to punish McDonalds for having the audacity to let DJT cook fries and serve the window customers.
Buy McD stock if the weaponised regulatory state cause a blip. It won’t last.
Try Burger King onion rings. Totally devoid of onions.
WHO WANTS TO BE ME THAT INVADERS ARE WORKING IN SUCH PROCESSING PLACES???
THEY HAVE NO DECENT STANDARDS FOR PERSONAL HYGIENE.
True, but if you read about the history of the industry, the practices were bad even before that.
I don’t like raw onions at all. Would not miss them but wonder how they get e. Coli?
And the FDA, CDC and Dept of Ag will be getting big bonuses again this year.
onions are used to purify air. If they’re left out too long, they become toxic.
