Democrats are currently focused on the fight against Donald Trump. But quietly, factions within the party are preparing contingency plans for a different battle: the one over how to interpret a Kamala Harris loss.
Polls of the 2024 election show the closest presidential race in modern memory. For Harris, defeat is roughly as likely as victory. The former outcome is sure to trigger a fierce, intra-Democratic debate over what the party should learn from losing the White House (twice) to an unpopular demagogue
If Harris loses, expect Democrats to move right With 15 days left, we need your help
The US presidential campaign is in its final weeks and we’re dedicated to helping you understand the stakes. In this election cycle, it’s more important than ever to provide context beyond the headlines. But in-depth reporting is costly, so to continue this vital work, we have an ambitious goal to add 5,000 new members.
If Harris loses, expect Democrats to move right
Even though Harris is running as a moderate, progressives are likely to get blamed for her defeat.

“Move right” means still way left of most Americans, but trying to be somewhat sane like Dims at least used to pretend to be.
Nobody believes it, Vox. And methinks you know it's a fraud -- and endorse the fraud.
If Harris loses, expect Democrats to move right out of America.
Sorry, it ain't gonna happen, but we can dream. Right?
“If Harris loses, expect Democrats to move right”
Stupidest thing I’ve ever read. They’ll say “We lost because weren’t communist enough” and will become even more totalitarian. Democrats have no ability to self-reflect and critically analyze things.
Or they’ll say “We didn’t bash Trump enough.”
Or maybe “The third time will be a charm.”
A democRAT move to the right is just lies intended to deceive voters.
She says her values haven’t changed - and her values have always been wildly radical.
When people tell me clearly who they are, I believe them.
No matter who wins, you’re going to see more “Fetterman type democrats.” They won’t have a choice if they want to stay relevant.
“The Riffraff are Coming.”
Not a chance.
CA is running the show and insiders tell me that what they have in mind is even more radical than anyone is talking about.
I don’t think they will but they have the outside appearance of moving more central, but in reality they will not, they are deceptive. I don’t want to hear any Republicans talk about crossing the aisle and working with democrats. What we need is a MAGA party and let the RINOs leave party and replace the dems, all democrats need to be out of power.
Expect the democrats to SAY the move to the right.
“Move” ... yeah, right. Anything to fool folks.
Help Democrats to be more Moderate.
Vote Trump.
She’s running as a lush. I don’t know what a “moderate” is to these people.
What does that mean?
