Donald Trump has largely avoided interviews where he will be fact-checked in real time. But on Sunday, he sat for an interview on Fox News, where he was challenged directly on some of his most glaring falsehoods of the campaign.
The exchanges that resulted provided a case study in the tactics the former president uses when confronted with facts that contradict his statements.
Mr. Trump repeatedly denied knowledge of information that has long been publicly available, questioned the sources and then pivoted away to an unrelated topic.
On one point, though, he stuck by his words with no deflection or equivocation: He absolutely believed, he said, that his political opponents were an “enemy from within” who posed a greater threat than foreign adversaries.
Here’s a look at notable moments in Mr. Trump’s interview with Fox News’s Howard Kurtz:
‘I have not heard that at all’
Mr. Kurtz questioned Mr. Trump’s recent description of Jan. 6 — when his supporters stormed the Capitol in a failed attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election — as a “day of love,” and asked whether the former president understood why Americans saw it as a dark day. Mr. Trump didn’t back down from the description, and when Mr. Kurtz pushed back — noting that hundreds of people had pleaded guilty or been convicted, and that many were charged with assaulting police officers — Mr. Trump immediately deflected to another topic. He then claimed that nobody was killed on Jan. 6 and that “nobody had guns here either.”
Several people died as a result of the riot at the Capitol, and Mr. Kurtz pointed out that some of the rioters were armed. In his response, Mr. Trump professed ignorance, though that fact...

The NYT keeps repeating the same old debunked narratives. It's all they got.
And it’s just pathetic for them.
New York Slimes...”All the News that *hit to print”
NEW YORK SLIME, REALLY
The NYT presents facts?
You could have fooled me.
I have never encountered such poor writing, lack of logic, and silliness.
Journalism - when one cannot qualify for a studies major.
Keep trying NYT, you silly little children.
Who decides what is and isn’t a fact ?
What does the NYT say about Horizontal?
“why Americans saw it as a dark day”
No, they don’t. It’s a loaded question.
NYT is like green baloney bad for you.
Maggie’s beliefs on the ‘facts’ Donald Trump speaks, knows, or thinks certainly aren’t anything close to the avoidance bullsh!t Que-Mala pulls ALL the time. As for illegal immigrants and J6, I’ll take Donald Trump’s version all day long.
howard kurtz is a fag
Oh, good, I challenged them to name one.... and they gave it their best shot and couldn’t name one.
It appears these morons do not know what the word “fact” means.
The sad thing here is they are making it obvious... we cannot live together side-by-side.
The NYT has remained stunningly mute over Biden’s cognitive decline. Thanks to the Times, a vegetable resides in the White House.
Not much bias in this execrable depiction, eh?
..noting that hundreds of people had pleaded guilty or been convicted [of trespass]
Note that none were convicted of 'insurrection.' Standing before a communist appointed, DC Swamp judge, did any of these 'convictions' come as a surprise?
Of course DJT would deflect these trap laden queries.
Oh, if the New York Slimes said it’s true then it must be.....NOT!! That’s one of the first things I’d like to see take a big fall in the future!
Maggie Astor of the lying New York Times is delusional.
“On one point, though, he stuck by his words with no deflection or equivocation: He absolutely believed, he said, that his political opponents were an “enemy from within” who posed a greater threat than foreign adversaries.”
If a German Jewish leader in the early 1930s had said that the biggest near-term threat to German Jews was the Nazi Party, I suspect that the Nazi-controlled media there would have labeled it as a ‘debunked conspiracy theory’ and what German Jews should REALLY be worried about was the country of Lichtenstein taking over all of Germany and killing off the Jews there.
This is how far our media has sunk.
All the NYT can do at this point is try to keep its readers from waking up, canceling their subscriptions and maybe even changing sides—one can hope.
Gotta hand it to Trump. Calling J6 a day of love is a middle finger to the left’s hyperbolic narrative. I would like to see Trump suggest that J6 was fedsurrection agit prop, entrapment and a police riot. I think he should call it Nancy Pelosi’s Reichstag Fire.
So the ‘radical liberals’ are the Jews in your analogy?
