I’ve been wondering

I live in Putnam County which is referred to as “upstate” New York. We are just a stone’s throw from Westchester County. When traveling around Putnam I see some Trump signs but very few Harris signs. Sort of makes sense since the county is home to retired cops and mostly middle class families. Now when my travels take me into Westchester which is a pretty affluent area I see many more Harris signs than Trump. Some are rabid supporters with multiple lawn signs and even Trump signs with a circle and bar across it. Why is that? How can you in theory have “made it” but be so stupid as to endorse such a looser? Are they democrat party hacks, do that many people live off government grants, or are they involved in education and have been brainwashed. Help me out here with any ideas why so many supposedly smart people can be so blind.

I think there is a veritable pandemic of mental illness in America today…you can see it all around you, drugs, alcohol, people living on the streets, the leftists, Hollywood. It is a very troubling situation for the continued existence, not to even mention prosperity, of this country beyond the impact on our politics.

It makes the mess we’re in right now more understandable.

Perhaps some modern Abraham will find 10 righteous men in America?

I have long believed that you cannot be a Leftist and be a Christian. The two are mutually exclusive.

Any Leftist that claims they are a Christian is likely one of those “Christians” you see in the Universalist churches.

Yes...this is universal behavior for them.

I am lucky. I am not one to organize these types of things, but I am fortunate enough to associate myself over the years with the kind of people who DO!

I spent many years associated with the DC Chapter, and those folks were real Patriots. And I am grateful for that.

You go to the university. You're indoctrinated by stupid ideas (communism).

Everyone else in the meantime, we have to live in the real world. We don't have the luxury to deal with Marxist ideas.

Guys like Donald Trump and Elon Musk are the exception.

Usually they'll be more like Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos or Mark Cuban.

David Horowitz’ book Radical Son should be required reading.
It is brutally honest and well written.

Oh yeah, the DC Chapter was kind of the platinum standard back in the early days. I always hoped one of my DC visits to see family and friends there would coincide with a DC FReeper event. You guys rocked it.

I was active with the Houston Chapter at the time. We had a lot of fun. We’d piss off the leftists just by showing up with our American flags and big “We Support Our Troops” banner at some of their silly demonstrations. We got similar reactions with the middle fingers and stuff. We’d just laugh, which seemed to piss ‘em off even more.

I had the privilege to be an honorary member...:)

I met so many good and hearty patriots down there. They kept me upbeat when things were going badly for our country.

I will always be grateful to them.

In a sane world, this could be a news article in the local paper, a national opinion magazine, or an Ivy League college magazine. Well done descriptions and patience! You did not choose sides poorly, FRiend!

Here in my County, the only Harris signs you’ll find are outside the gates of the oceanfront homes. My husband thinks it’s because these ultra wealthy people must be making their money off of some sort of government contract, etc.

I have long believed that you cannot be a Leftist and be a Christian. The two are mutually exclusive.

I don't see how someone can vote for advocating for immorality and murder and call themselves Christian.

I did run into a democrat whose rationalization for voting dem is that God is pro-choice, because He's for giving us a choice of whether to follow Him or not.

So He's for choice.

I realized at that point the depth of deception some n people are operating under to even begin to think that's a valid argument.

Ugh.

One of the most powerful things the human brain is capable of is its ability to rationalize nearly anything.

Your anecdote is one of the most powerful examples of that which I have ever seen. Astonishing, but that is what the human brain can do to try to make things which cannot be compatible be...compatable.

"That tells me not only that I am on the right side of this, but that our beliefs are grounded in what we can intellectually and ideologically defend. We are built on a foundation of solid truth that we can confidently stand on.

The same cannot be said for Leftists, even the highly educated and otherwise intelligent ones. They build their entire edifice of Leftism on a faulty foundation, and I think that deep down inside, they know it."

I completely with your assessment of the left.

As you say, we have the confidence of what we absolutely believe is truth. They, on the other hand, lack that certainty in their lives. This is why their temperament is such as it is. Their lives are full of rages and chaos is their normal routine. I think that explains Kamala Harris's behavior quite well.

It is discouraging and a bit depressing to accept that, but that is the reality of it.

We have to coexist with people I don’t think can be co-existed with. And we have to put that square peg in that round hole.
