Former President Trump held a rally in the Detroit area, and he invited a local legend to the stage.
The three-time Republican presidential nominee was at Huntington Place in downtown Detroit, and, before he took the stage, he took a photo with boxing legend Thomas “Hitman” Hearns, a Detroit native.
Trump then spotted Hearns in the audience and invited him to the stage.
“I won so much money betting on this guy. … Some of the greatest fights in history,” Trump said.
“One of the greatest fights of all time, and man, I’ll tell you what, he was something special.”
Hearns eventually joined Trump on the stage and seemed in disbelief.
“Hearing those nice words coming from you, man, this can’t be real. … Hearing it come from you, I’m very excited. I want to fight now.”

I think of it like Trump does. The US is and may always be a developing nation. Only 250 years but with more than enough good in it to build on. As an experiment, there is no model for perfection but there are provisions for “the making of a more perfect union”.

Trump can’t defeat math.
When one points out $36T in debt, the usual response is a shaking of the head and then a change of the subject. People quietly choose to ignore it, choose to delude themselves about it — usually with a presumption that it must not be that bad and the person in question must not understand . . . Something.
How do we get away with it? Well, it is a substance created from nothingness, meaning money itself. The FED creates it whimsically. Does that make it immune to mathematics? Somewhat. In fact more than somewhat. The entirety of society will not want those numbers to mean something. And because they are measuring a substance that comes from nothing whimsically, maybe they don’t mean anything.
But the day that is concluded is the day that the bankers that demand interest on mortgages, that one day could not be paid and that generated divorce and destroyed lives, that’s the day there are pitchforks and torches in the streets and lynched bankers.
Trump can do nothing about this.
Financial defeat can get the job done a lot more efficiently than the pitchfork mob.
Hearns, Leonard, Haggler, Duran...These guys were the boxers of my youth. So many legendary fights. I actually got goosebumps reading this story.
I’d be worn out too. But just like Rush Limbaugh had “talent on loan from God,” I think God is loaning President Trump talent and energy.
An esteemed economist (I can't remember who) said the only way out is to have economic growth to grow our way out. That would include massive jobs/manufacturing/cheap energy to export wanted in demand goods. The other alternative is ruin/bankruptcy.
How can you recognize someone so obscure in a crowd? That is incredible.
what a golden era for boxing. They all fought each other and they really gave it their all...especally Hearns. Win, lose or draw, Tommy threw down. I used to detail his Corvette at the dealership i worked at. Went to the Kronk Gym many times and watched all those guys train. The 1980’s were really something special..great boxing, great hockey, great baseball, great basketball, great music and especially, a really great President. What a time to be alive..def the best years of my life.
