Air fryers are certified miracle workers when it comes to getting dinner out on the table quickly. How do they work, though? They cook your meals using bursts of hot convection heat. The result is a series of savory, crispy foods that you'd never guess were cooked in an air fryer. And they're great for anything from chicken thighs to a filet of salmon. But while there are plenty of things that you can cook in an air fryer, there are only a few that you should.

I don't own an air fryer but here is the list. I know a few people at work that swear by them.
1. Boneless pork chops
2. Spinach and leafy greens
3. Steak
4. Unbreaded chicken breasts
5. Large cuts of meat
6. Uncovered broccoli
7. Shellfish

Only shellfish and leafy greens I agree with. Others no.

Seems like a no-brainer to know not to cook those items in an air-fryer. But then, a lot of young people today are “no-brainers”. I presume that was the target audience for this article.

I found the secret to Air Fried Spotted Owl: you have to gut and pluck it first. I was doing it all wrong!

The spotted owl is best over wood, at least an acre of old growth forest.

The secret is to coat it with clay and bake it in the coals
Then when you break the clay the feathers come right off.
Some like to stuff it with chipmunk or other small rodentia for that Owl Wellington presentation.

You’re missing out if you don’t have an air fryer.
Agree on all of them except steak. I haven’t used anything but the air fryer for steak.
Hint: pre-heat the air fryer before using it. Everything tastes better.

Chicken breasts and boneless chops turn out in the air fryer better than on the grill. I “sneak up” on the meat by cooking in smaller intervals at lower temperatures. Use a meat thermometer, and when they’re within a few degrees of being done let them sit. Juciest chicken ever.

I found the secret to Air Fried Spotted Owl: you have to gut and pluck it first. I was doing it all wrong! It’s good with a nice snail darter sauce.
Kemp’s ridely sea turtle soup makes a nice appetizer.

A great way to fry foods with very little fat is simply to use a spray-on oil, like Pam. A light spray of oil on breaded foods or veggies will come out sort of like it’s fried, or sort of like Shake-n-bake. Or rub a slight bit of oil over roasts, etc., to keep them most in the oven.

Try lamb chops - salt and pepper, put in a ziplock bag, add some evoo, and some fresh rosemary. Marinate for a couple of hours or whatever.
Air fryer 10 minutes - flip once at 8 minutes or so.

I do hamburgers in them quite often. I have an air fryer at home and at work.
