I had a Matador in the ‘70s. I LOVED that car! So much power. Dark midnight blue.

“The Gremlin was not bad except for its looks.”

I’m not sure they looked BAD (depends on your taste), but they looked funny — like a cartoon.

Chrysler is dead. Ford is on the verge of death. GM lies and lies and lies. Their cars aren’t selling and just piling up by the thousands.

The crappy car era will be looked on as favorable compared to the ‘20’s no cars at all era

So that was your old Pinto? What an amazing coincidence!

I'm surprised there are any Pintos still on the road.

I love the VW thing. A friend of mine has one that is his hunting vehicle. Very light and hard to get stuck.

There is another one in my town and I see him on Sundays while on a grocery run. I have a ‘79 VW bug convertible so we trade honks and waves.

No. I doubt very much it was ours.

I’ve seen only two old Pinto’s in the last several decades. That one and one in a Market Basket parking lot in Milford, NH of all places.

I worked for a guy who had a small collection of Corvette’s and Jaguars. His everyday driver was a Pacer. He loved it.

It served it’s purpose at the time. IIRC I got $200 trade in for a Toyota Starlet.

71 Plymouth Valiant. Puke green. My dad bought it for me in Fairbanks, Alaska. We went to pick it up and it was 30 below zero, and the car covered in 3 feet of snow. The owner dug deep enough to get a battery charger on it. It started right up, and it was a great car. Ugly…but great.

I had a blue 1977 Datsun 260+ Z. It had four seats. Great car. Four on the floor and it would really move.

“Downsizing” included using thinner sheet metal known as “diet steel”. Thank you too much, Jimmy Carter!
