A 25 minute trip down memory lane for those of us who lived thru the 70's ugly crappy car era......................
VIDEO AT LINK...................
The Pacer cornered very well. An extremely stable car for its price.
As I’ve said here before, late 1970’s I had to drive a guest to his private airplane one Sunday morning - he had rented a Datsun B210 Honeybee from the gas station next door
He was the owner of Sterling National Life
The doors on the B210 looked to be about 1.5 inches thick
It was like wearing (driving) a Coca-Cola can on wheels
I actually was not feeling too safe - it was about a 30-35 mile roundtrip - I was glad to get out of it
And it had “Fine Corinthian Leather!”......................
The first one was bought by Evil Knievel to transport his motorcycles and he drove it in a movie.
A friend of mine had one in the Marines. It was roomy for its size..............
I had a Gremlin and my wife had a Pinto when we met.
Yep. The late 70’s LeBaron’s were hardly stunners, but at least they were rear wheel drive.
Yeah I noticed that.
I had a Pinto wagon, as well. I agree that it looked better than the regular model and was safer. It had a 2000cc engine, that I joked, stood for 2000 chipmunks churning.
I’m going with the Grimlin. The Pacer could be taken as cute. After an evening at the bar. The Grimlin is ugly no matter one’s current state.
I had an 82 Datsun truck.
You could not break it. Even had a gas tank drain valve. Yep, had to use it.
Lost a belt in mid-summer on Maricopa Rd. Powered crank shaft. I moved it from water pump to crank shaft.
Pulled over every 1000yds as the temp gauge was hard red.
After 3 stops the water valve opened and Chandler here I come. the gauge started going back down after 3/4 hot.
Didn’t need the pump to get home.
That little truck had 3 belts. I needed 2. Yes it was 110 outside.
but fine Corinthian leather seats ...
Looks early 80s to me. Although I’m not sure when they stopped the drop top. But that K-car body style went well into the early 80s. That is a particularly ugly example.
epic
i thought kcars were just an early 80’s thing. perhaps i’ve blocked them out of memory.
Oldsmobile offered them with an "Olds Gold" Rocket 350 engine with either a 4 speed manual or 3 speed automatic transmission. The Chevy Nova, Pontiac Ventura, and Buick Apollo were also offered with 350 engines.
“I had an 82 Datsun truck.”
i still have an 81 datsun 620 pickup ... 75,000 miles ... supposedly it’s a collector’s item ...
[“Fine Corinthian Leather!”]
“RICH Corinthian Leather!” my friend
I’d love to go back to 1975 right now - make it so
And I need to take a few notes on what / who to avoid lol
Cadillac Cinnamon, or whatever that little shiite box was called.
As some car mag said of it:
Like a Honda Accord that did not run very well.
‘78 Toyota Corolla SR5 Hatchback. 3TC engine. That thing took incredible abuse and kept going. I’d buy one today just to sit in again and re-hash old memories back to life. I ain’t kidding I’ll get one. That or a ‘89 5.0 LX Notchback. Man I miss being 19. If I only knew....
