For my part, I'm saying that the trend would virtually disappear if the stats were adjusted for marital status.

(I.e., women have become more liberal and consume more anti-depressants because they are "riding the carousel.")

It’s certainly possible that college/university indoctrination is a factor, but I also suspect that the popularity over the last couple decades of sites like Facebook, TikTok and Instagram have played a role. Significantly more women than men are engaged in following their friends, acquaintances, celebrities and “influencers” on social media. These sites have echo-chamber as well as brainwashing effects, as leftist views are disseminated while conservatives are attacked.
