Need Advice for Verizon Messenger+

Please help me, as I am not tech-savvy.
I have been using Messages+ for quite a while for texting with my Android phone. Verizon is now informing me that this app will be discontinued, and I am being nudged toward replacing it with a Google app.
Tried researching other choices, but I don't know how to judge what is a good replacement.
My phone is a Galaxy S21.
Suggestions?

I have friends and business associates all over the world. They all use WhatsApp because it’s free to make long distance phone calls and text messages over WiFi. So I have to use it too. But only to communicate with people overseas. Don’t use it for friends and associates here in the USA.
But again the people you communicate with may also need to have the app. Should double check though I could be mistaken.

I own a Galaxy Note 10+. I use the SMS app that Samsung provides and it works wonderfully. Also, if you haven’t, try out Samsung’s Internet browser (I’d use either one of those before touching anything Googlish).

I’m going to give Mighytext a try since it also allows for SMS via PC apparently. That was just one I found last night after a brief search.

Looks like Mightytext isn’t a standalone phone app. Still useful from a PC, but not the solution folks may be looking for.

Do note that Signal only talks with other people who have Signal installed.
