Russia Says Risk of Big Regional War Very High After Killing of Hezbollah Leader

The Kremlin on Monday condemned the killing of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli air attack last week and said it assessed the risk of a major Middle East war as "extremely high".

"The Russian side condemns such actions, we believe that they have led to a significant destabilisation of the situation in the region," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"The main thing is that such indiscriminate bombing of residential areas in Lebanon leads to a huge number of human casualties, which will inevitably bring on a humanitarian catastrophe like the one we are seeing in Gaza," he added, expressing Moscow's "deepest concern".

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov described the killing of Nasrallah at the weekend as a political assassination and the Russian foreign ministry in a statement called on Israel to immediately stop hostilities in Lebanon.

Interesting how Russia said nothing as Hezbollah was lobbing missiles at kids playing soccer.

No one was complaining until Israel defended itself.

I’m starting to think Iran is like the big mouth in Tombstone. Big talk but gets quite when Israel calls their bluff and slaps them up side the head.

I am sure there is some Hezbollah sergeant who is going to do a great job leading the whole terror army. Because everyone above them is out of action, without testicles, or blind.

Can you imagine taking out the entire lower office class of the Wehrmacht the day before D-Day? And then taking out Bradley and Ike the next day?

If there is a wider war it is because the IIRG has taken over command.

Russia should worry about where they stack their missiles these days.

Obviously, meant Rommel and Kesslering….not Bradley and Ike.

The US Army/military is more structured to handle the lost of company grade commanders. A decent Sergeant could handle local operations. Most other armies in the world do not train leadership; they train blind obedience.

The Soviet Union under Gorbachev kidnapped and killed Imad Mughniyeh’s nephew in 1985 to threaten Hezbollah into releasing four Russian diplomats. Mughniyeh was Nasrallah’s right-hand-man. Of course, Russia and Hezbollah have reconciled since then, cooperating in Syria to prop up Assad.
