* VANITY* - How Can I Make The Font Darker or bolder ? * VANITY*
self ^ | September 28, 2024 | knarf

Posted on 09/28/2024 6:11:07 AM PDT by knarf

My eyes are getting worse and I increase the font for easier reading, but it seems to me, I might also benefit from a bolder or blacker font.

Can that be done ?

Won't let me install it, says my browser needs to be updated. I can't update Brave or Chrome unless I go to Windows 10.

FU Microsoft and Google.

Wi does 10?

To get to the ClearType take an entry to the Control Panel and select the Display option.
On the right pane of the Display window click on Adjust ClearType Text link.
A ClearType Text Tuner window will appear on your screen. Select the checkbox Turn on ClearType and click Next button to go to the next step
After turning on the ClearType Text Tuner, you will see five windows exhibiting the samples of the text that you wish to set.
So click Next on the following five sample windows by selecting your required text type.
On the appearance of last window click Finish after completing the tuning of the text for your monitor.

I use the Opera browser - it is the best for reading Freerepublic (other sites as well). You can easily zoom to whatever size you want and it “reflows” the text, so you don’t have to scroll sideways.

My sight isn’t that great either and it works really well for me.

Give it a try.

Do you have a “View” button in your browser’s menu? (Usually at the top of the screen)

If so, click on that, and select “zoom in”.

You can't just snag a favorite picture from a desktop folder...it has to be hosted someplace on line to be posted here. Best bet is to save the image to an image hosting service, I use imgbb. In Firefox right click and select "Copy image location", in Safari right click and select "Open image in new tab" and copy the address in the address bar. Other browsers have similar tricks. Imgbb allows you to imbed codes to do all the HTML heavy lifting automatically.

Now about that home page of yours…

Protip: Make the very first thing <blockquote> this will move everything that follows a wee bit to the right, giving you a nice left margin. Of course since any HTML command anywhere will be assumed to require HTML for every bit of text, all your paragraphs will need to have paragraph <p>, and line breaks <br>…

darkreader.org has a program which allows you to replace fonts, change brightness, reverse colors, etc. I like to use it when I read at night to reverse so I see white on black instead of black on white.

Folks are telling you how to post. I dont think that is what you meant.

You can adjust brightness and size on your browser, but that is not going to make typeface “bold” throughout.

Without trying to sound snarky, have you considered getting higher magnification reading glasses? I’ve been fighting it myself, but blue block reading glasses are very useful from time to time.

In response to your post on blue block glasses:

I gotta use blue blocker glasses- it was getting so my eyes were stinging at the end of the night after being on co Peter. Couldn’t figure it out til, someone ementioned it might be blue light. Purchased blue blocker glasses and the problem went away completely.

Are you talking about FR or everything?

For FR, you can hold down CTRL and move your cursor over the print to enlarge to any size you want. For other reading, don’t know!

Just found out that distance from computer and distance from book determine strength. I use 1.25 for computer and 2 for reading.
