The 10 Breweries Every Craft Beer Fan Should Visit Once
Cool material ^ | 09/21/2024 | By Christopher Osburn

If you didn’t know it already, the craft beer world has exploded in the last few decades. At last count, there were more than 9,000 breweries (micro and macro) currently operating in the U.S. To put this into perspective, there were only a little over 1,700 breweries in 2010. That’s a major increase in IPAs, pilsners, pale ales, sours, and stouts. The oversaturation of brewing in the U.S. means two things: For one, there are a lot more options than there used to be; secondly, there are a great many breweries that simply aren’t worth your time. That said, a select few breweries belong on your must-visit list.

Pure Project doesn’t come up on a lot of lists, great little brewery. Besides them, I have been to Russian River and Great Notion. I have had Pliny the Younger once, but I understand it is much easier to find now, just not in Texas. I highly recommend all three.

I run an Airbnb and I’ve had people visit here who have gone to treehouse or wearing treehouse hats.

BIG SKY MOOSE DROOL

RateBeer Score 90 Style

Remember that feeling? That first taste, the best part of a beer after a long day. We want to make that better than ever. So we made Moose Drool. The name sounds a little iffy, but it’s really the best Brown Ale you’ll ever taste. That’s why Moose Drool is far and away the best-selling beer brewed in Montana. It’s chocolate brown in color with a creamy texture. A malty beer with just enough hop presence to keep it from being too sweet. The aroma mostly comes from the malt with a hint of spice added by the hops. Moose Drool is brewed with pale, caramel, chocolate, and whole black malts; and Kent Goldings, Liberty, and WILLAMETTE

During travels in Washington and Oregon were many great breweries. Those damn aging hippies know how to make a good brew. I do not like their politics but I do like their beer. Oddly the best brew I sampled was up in Alberta. It was an IPA made with rye. It was outstanding.

Here in Central Texas in Salado, we have Barrows Brewery. They make an IPA that would be very acceptable in any English Pub. “Evil Catfish” is their premier IPA. It is very good. The brewery is located in an old tin gin. It was perfect for setting up all their brewing equipment. The local supermarkets even carry their beer. Good beer sells!

I’ll look for that here in north Texas. My only regrets about moving to Texas was moving away from so many world class breweries in SoCal. We have a new Brewery in Allen called Armor Brewing, and so far, I think their beer is comparable to north San Diego County.

A few years ago I was up in Montana with an English friend of mine. We both consider ourselves the judge of what a good beer is. I lived in England for several years before we made good beer in the USA.

We went out to eat and of course ordered a beer with our meal. We did not know the local beers but anybody that would name their beer, “Moose Drool” probably made a good brew. We were not disappointed. It was a good brew.

I see most are in liberal shxtholes so I wouldn’t go anyway. I find the local out of the way breweries the best. The smaller the better.

Why?
They are all in liberal states\citys.
I can brew my own in the barn.
