A Mississippi teen who sat in her kitchen alongside her two dogs moments after she allegedly killed her mother is accused of texting her friend that she had an “emergency” and trying to lure her stepfather back to the home.
Carly Gregg, 15, is accused of murdering her mom, high school teacher Ashley Smylie, inside their Brandon, Miss., home March 19 when Smylie discovered her daughter’s “secret life.”
Gregg, wearing a Nirvana band shirt, awkwardly shuffled around the house holding something behind her back, later identified as a .357 Magnum handgun, and facing the camera so it could not detect the weapon, according to footage shown in a Rankin County courtroom on Tuesday.

I’m glad she was caught, but why there are surveillance cameras INSIDE a home. Who wants to live in a fish-bowl like that?
Nearly every person carries a(n arguable) surveillance device on them at all times.
We’ve been following this loosely on court tv. My wife says she had stopped her psych meds sometime before the shootings......problem is she didn’t ween herself off of them as directed by he doctor, she stopped them cold turkey.....there’s no telling what that would to to a mind that undeveloped.
Lol, about 10 years ago, the football coach at Northwest Rankin got arrested for running a drug ring.

If the cameras were installed by the homeowner, then they would be for security purposes. For instance if the cameras sent pictures to the cloud, then a smart phone could access the cameras from a thousand miles away while on vacation. Remotely viewing the home interior could reveal an intruder, potential fire or other emergencies.
The downside is this operation can be hacked into and a person can be monitored by others. Those others would then know when no one is home as well as other info necessary to pull off a good burglary.

Amazon ring cameras are really cheap and easy to use. It’s not usual to have a few around the house for security.
Many years ago I got carried away with my hobby of installing cameras. At that time, it required advanced networking skills to configure and get them to work. So I installed 8 cameras that covered outside 360, every entrance and living space inside. So my wife and I went on vacation leaving my college aged daughter at home. When I looked in she had draped garbage bags over the cameras. My neighbors told me that she threw a raging party.

I have a friend who’s wife was insanely evil to their daughter. The mother was a full on drunk.
