Opinion: Former National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster adds to UFO speculation
The Hill/MSN.com ^ | marik von rennenkampff

Former National Security Advisor and retired Army Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster became the latest official to make eyebrow-raising comments about UFOs, now formally rebranded as “unidentified anomalous phenomena” or UAP.

Asked about UAP during a Sept. 6 appearance on “Real Time with Bill Maher,” McMaster stated that “there are phenomena that have been witnessed by multiple people that are just inexplicable by any kind of science available to us.”

...

Over a decade after they were first formally reported, naval aviators’ daily observations of UAP exhibiting amazing flight characteristics off the East Coast remain officially unexplained.

John Ratcliffe, director of national intelligence under former President Trump, injected fascinating context into recent military encounters with the UFO phenomenon. In a 2021 interview, Ratcliffe stated that UAP “have been picked up by satellite imagery [and] frankly engage in actions that are difficult to explain, movements that are hard to replicate, that we don’t have the technology for.”

U.S. intelligence analysts, Ratcliffe continued, have “high confidence” that foreign adversaries such as China or Russia were not behind one of the most extraordinary, best-documented UAP incidents.

Alarmingly, Ratcliffe stated that UAP exhibit “technologies that we don’t have and, frankly, that we are not capable of defending against.”

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

Romans 6:10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.

Jesus died once for the sin of all. If he lived and died only once and that was on Earth, how could aliens from possibly multiple other planets know about Him or be saved? This leads to the conclusion that there are no aliens.

What many self-avowed Christians and self-avowed scientists have in common is a long list of what is impossible.

History has proved that those who claim something is “impossible” tells us more about the speaker than it does about the amazing universe we inhabit.

“how could aliens from possibly multiple other planets know about Him or be saved”

When we meet them we can ask them.

"frankly, that we are not capable of defending against.”

Nonsense. It's simple.

"Klaatu Barada Nikto". That's all it takes.

When are they going to give it a thoroughly unsightly acronym like UIOAJK? Or LGBTQIAA+?

As a Christian I can never believe in UFOs.

The Holy Bible would have some mention of possibility of human-type life on other planets.

One might just as reasonably say:

As a Christian I can never believe in life in the Americas.

The Holy Bible would have some mention of possibility of human-type life on other continents, or even acknowledge that there are other continents.

The Bible is OUR Bible written for OUR education and salvation. It is written for US, not anyone else.

Entities elsewhere are either demonic, beyond salvation; or angelic, in no need of salvation; or like us, salvageable.

If the last, salvageable, I cannot imagine that a merciful God would not provide each with a path to salvation compatible with their abilities.

Several notable people who have been involved with the UFO issue have described extraterrestrial beings or UFO-related phenomena as being deceptive or trickster-like in nature.

Here are a few:

Jacques Vallée – Vallée, one of the most influential authorities on the UFO phenomenon, has suggested that the UFO phenomenon may act like a "control system" and has compared the entities associated with UFO sightings to trickster-like figures in folklore. In his book Messengers of Deception (1979), Vallée explores the possibility that these beings may intentionally mislead or deceive humans for purposes that are not fully understood.

John Keel – Keel, famous for his work The Mothman Prophecies (1975), also took a trickster approach to the UFO phenomenon. He referred to UFO occupants as "ultraterrestrials," entities that play tricks on human perception and belief systems. Keel believed that the beings might be manipulating humans by presenting themselves in ways that conform to different eras and belief systems.

Whitley Strieber – Strieber, known for his book Communion (1987), where he recounts his own experiences with what he describes as alien abduction, has also alluded to the idea that the beings involved are not straightforward in their interactions with humans. He often suggested they might engage in behavior that could be considered trickster-like, as their true motives remain elusive. Strieber has said that he was gang-raped by these beings. I don't know if he was referring to experiments being performed on himself as rapes or if his experience was actually what we might think of as a gang attack of a sexual nature.

Terence McKenna – Although more focused on psychedelic experiences, McKenna’s exploration of entities encountered through altered states of consciousness (sometimes linked to UFO phenomena) has also included references to trickster-like behaviors. He speculated that such entities might not be what they appear, and their influence may be more about altering perception and belief rather than direct contact.

These researchers have often likened the behavior of these beings to tricksters in mythological traditions, presenting phenomena that challenge our understanding of reality.

How were all the Ancient Chinese, Australians, Pacific Islanders, North and South Americans, etc. expected to hear the Good Word when it was primarily limited to the Middle East and parts of the Roman Empire?

Because they are residents of Earth, and Jesus instructed his disciples to spread the gospel throughout the world.

A science fiction author (perhaps Larry Niven) said at some point, technology is functionally the same as magic.

Clarke's law: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

The Three Laws:

“1. When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong.

2. The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.

3. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”

“ The Holy Bible would have some mention of possibility of human-type life on other planets.”

Real folly presuming what should or should not be in the Bible.

We may be the only creatures God chose to create we may be one of many, in my eyes either way you look at it there is a miracle, Gods will in action.

I have no problem with the existence of other life in the universe it takes nothing away from the human race or my existence. God created the universe, His power is limitless. God put light years between stars hence between potential civilizations, I believe He did that on purpose, so we may meet beings from other stars it will be a long time, if ever, before that happens.

What does the Bible say about "interdimensional beings"?

It DOES mention the Angels that left their own habitations. They stepped out of the spiritual realm, and into the physical realm. I think God was highly displeased with them.

I have heard of Vallee and Strieber, but not the others. I think it’s pretty straightforward. Satan wants as many people in Hell with him, as possible. It’s all about deception.

So we’re all guilty because we didn’t invent time machines to go back to the year 1000 and preach the Gospel to the Aztecs. I suppose that since we got our lazy backsides to sub-saharan Africa around the 1700’s or so and started preaching the Good Word to the natives meant that magically their ancestors also are saved.
