[The European climate service Copernicus says Earth just sweltered to its hottest summer on record]
Summer 2024 sweltered to Earth's hottest on record, making it even more likely that this year will end up as the warmest humanity has measured, European climate service Copernicus reported Friday.
And if this sounds familiar, that's because the records the globe shattered were set just last year as human-caused climate change, with a temporary boost from an El Nino, keeps dialing up temperatures and extreme weather, scientists said.
The northern meteorological summer — June, July and August — averaged 16.8 degrees Celsius (62.24 degrees Fahrenheit), according to Copernicus. That's 0.03 degrees Celsius (0.05 degrees Fahrenheit) warmer than the old record in 2023. Copernicus records go back to 1940, but American, British and Japanese records, which start in the mid-19th century, show the last decade has been the hottest since regular measurements were taken and likely in about 120,000 years, according to some scientists.
The Augusts of both 2024 and 2023 tied for the hottest Augusts globally at 16.82 degrees Celsius (62.27 degrees Fahrenheit). July was the first time in more than a year that the world did not set a record, a tad behind 2023, but because June 2024 was so much hotter than June 2023, this summer as a whole was the hottest, Copernicus Director Carlo Buontempo said.
“What those sober numbers indicate is how the climate crisis is tightening its grip on us,” said Stefan Rahmstorf, a climate scientist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Research, who wasn't part of the research.
It's a sweaty grip because with the high temperatures, the dew point — one of several ways to measure the air's humidity — probably was at or near record high this summer for much of the world, Buontempo said.

Agreed. Summers are almost ALWAYS hot here in Texas, usually limited to July and August, but we started off with a very mild Spring. Even the hottest days couldn't rival what I experienced as a child. I remember 113 F in the early 70's.
Of course, you must ignore all the millions of years unmeasured.

Energy should be plentiful and cheap, then we can deal with most anything, from pleasant homes to indoor gardening, even powered awnings and powered canopies, whatever people need requires cheap and plentiful energy, something the left has fought for at least 60 years.
Sixty years of war against cheap, plentiful energy, generations of it, decades of it, more than a half a century of it, think where America’s cities and homes and factories and manufacturing would be today if nuclear energy had been adopted and competed/supplemented with natural gas and coal for the last 60 or 70 years.

Once the glaciers pull back there’s some pretty good soil.

Some 20,00 years ago most of the northern hemisphere was covered in glaciers some places a mile high. Obviously a lot of global cooling, but in a few thousand years those glacier had retreated to the arctic so a lot of global warming too. So I suppose wooly mammoth farts and the campfires of our distant ancestors were to blame

But it has been cooler here than usual. I guess that’s just weather? But 62 degrees and “the earth has a fever”? Hell. If you had a “fever” of 62 you’d be dead.

NASA formally stated that fact 2 years ago, it’s a general consensus by the scientific community but goes unheralded because the agenda is man-made climate change. Even though there is a long earth history of climatic variations due to asteroid impacts, and volcanism.

I don’t believe any data from our corrupted government or NGO’s. They are all liars….just look at our latest job figures. 300,000 plus jobs added each month until now ( end of year)….REVISED to a net yearly LOSS of almost a million jobs.

We had some really chilly 50-degree mornings here in Indianapolis in August. It’s going to get in the 40’s this weekend. Our summer has been a roller coaster temperature wise. But overall, we’ve had fewer 90-degree days than normal and no 100’s.
Setting aside for a moment whether the Earth has a measurable temperature, when is the first time Earth's "temperature" was measured? 1850? 1850 BC? 10,000 BC? 250,000 BC?
Inquiring minds want to know.

I have thought about this many times myself. I can just imagine where we would be if we had invested in reliable nuclear power rather than throwing away trillions of dollars over the last half century in wasteful “green energy” projects.
More GW BS, south FL here with a pool, usually each summer around August my pools is too warm to enjoy. This year, the water was perfect temp and cool all summer long.
