That’s how the German Nazis invented Fanta. They threw all their garbage foods into a vat, experimentally, until they created something drinkable.

I’d try it, if it is made out of plants.

As an aside, scientists have found that if you can’t drink coffee then you are probably predisposed to drinking tea.

There is a scene in Ride With the Devil where Toby Maguire offers some chicory to a fellow southerner. I've heard it from other sources too that it was used as a coffee substitute in the Civil War.

>beans eaten by an animal and defalcated by same animal in Indonesia. <

I knew that was done but what particular brand(s)?

I’m having trouble finding a coffee that taste like coffee. Maybe it’s just me
but if it’s poop then I’m thru with any brand of coffee.

It’s just another habit to be broken.

Remember Chock Full O’ Nuts? Chicory.

In my poor days I drank Chock Full of Nuts and Hills Bros. Neither had chicory from the '80s on. I do remember one brand advertising chicory, but it was neither of those. It is a thing in the Louisiana/Mississippi area.

WIKI

During the Second World War, Germany was under a United States trade embargo, the British naval blockade and the import of Coca-Cola syrup was prohibited. To circumvent this, Max Keith, the head of Coca-Cola Deutschland (Coca-Cola GmbH), decided to create a new product for the German market, using only ingredients available in Germany at the time, including sugar beet, whey (a cheese byproduct), and apple pomace. He later described them as the “leftovers of leftovers”.

The name was the result of a brainstorming session, which started with Keith’s exhorting his team to “use their imagination” (Fantasie in German), to which one of his salesmen, Joe Knipp, retorted “Fanta!”.

The modern-day orange Fanta was first produced in Naples, Italy in 1955 by a local bottling plant using locally sourced oranges. The design of the classic annulated bottle comes from these years.

I am not a coffee drinker, will never understand the Starbucks addiction

That's like a guy who doesn't drink alcohol--and never has--saying he doesn't understand why anyone would go to a neighborhood bar or pub.

Oh course you don't. You don't drink.

To a coffee lover, good coffee is one of the few reasons to live. Particularly when you get old.;-)

If you want something that tastes like smooth coffee that is not and no caffeine then try Dandy Blend. Made from dandelions. I like it if I just want the coffee taste and no caffeine.

Starbucks has the worst, burnt, and bitter coffee out there. Starbucks likes dark roast and it is nothing but over-cooked garbage.🗑️

I used to drink chicory coffee by French Market.
Roasted Dandelion root makes good coffee.
None of these need anything added to it. Maybe cream and sugar. That’s all.
I think our grandparents made coffee out of barley or some such seed. The poor man’s coffee.

I am a coffee drinker, and I don’t understand the Starbucks thing, either. There’s always a long line of cars at their drive-thru. Whenever I pass buy there, I yell out the window “fools. FOOLS!!”

It has to be the worst coffee I have ever tasted, and I don’t go in for all the flavors, whipped cream, and all that fancy stuff. AND it’s WAY overpriced.

Just plain black for me. Starbucks-pooey….
