A research centre backed by the Government will work to get insects and other meat alternatives onto supermarket shelves and make them more palatable to the public.

Innovation in meat alternatives has risen in recent years amid growing recognition of the environmental impact of animal agriculture, which accounts for around 80 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions from food production globally.

How long have Parliament, the civil service and the royal family been eating bugs? Not just have it on the menu. Actually the only entree available instead of an option. And no cheating by ordering a steak or burger from NotGrubs-hub. Call me after a year of that.

After all, if it is to save the Earth they should be leading the way.

Insects as food is a scam. If they are cheaper than beef now, it is only because of subsidies and venture capital. Breeding bugs in large quantities has all sorts of issues that have yet to be overcome.

After all, why haven't all the empty high rise buildings in NY been turned into vertical farms? Cool sci-fi ideas don't always deal well with reality.

I suspect that is how they become palatable... when bugs is all there is.

If everyone started hunting, wild game would probably be gone in a few weeks.

So that problem takes care of itself.

They would really just have to go after the farmers. But we’d know if they were to start doing that.

Right?

I think they already got us eating filth.

Now they’re just adding indignity to the mix. They really want us to know who is boss and what class we’re in.

is maggot infested meat now fit for consumption?

That's about as "organic" as you can get. Expect to pay a premium for live maggots!

If one is allergic to lobster and crabs, one may be allergic to eating insects!

Phooey!

Right! Who knows what those insects have eaten. Roaches can die from eating
roach power. Part of the depopulation plan for all, or just caucasian types?

Must be hell to live in the UK. High taxes, uncontrolled immigration, jail for thoughtcrimes against the fascist government, and being persuaded to eat bugs.

Thank you, but no. I enjoy a good rib-eye steak once in a while. You can eat all the bugs you want. It doesn’t bug me at all.
