Thrift shoppers will need to find a new location to score deals in Seattle, after the company announced that it will be closing two locations due to "escalating theft, safety concerns" as well as "rising rents."
Evergreen Goodwill of Northwest Washington announced the closures Friday in a blog post, saying that the decision came after they were unable to "maintain a secure and sustainable environment for both employees and shoppers."
"The announcement was made as escalating theft, safety concerns, and rising rents have made it increasingly difficult to maintain a secure and sustainable environment for both employees and shoppers," the announcement said.
The two locations — South Lake Union and University District — will officially close Sept. 22.

“Derieontay Sparks, senior vice president at Evergreen Goodwill, blamed the “troubling rise in property damage, break-ins, and safety concerns for our employees” for the decision.”
But you can be certain they still support leftist policies.
Theft from Goodwill. What have we become?
Coming to an entire nation near you if Commie-law wins.
Goodwill used to hire people that needed some help getting back on their feet.
Theft from Goodwill. What have we become?

Almost all theft is not about necessity.
It’s about lack of risk or deterrence.
It’s just like how many panhandlers will tell you they are hungry but get aggravated when you offer them food. The grift, even when it’s as simple as larceny, is a symptom of mental illness. The more sick our government gets, the more sick the lowest and commonest of the populace gets.
Still do. So does Salvation Army.
When Goodwill - of all places - complains about theft...
...the state of the economy is truly precipitous...
and
...one wonders who they support politically tomorrow.

Side note: Anyone else notice how high Goodwill et al prices are post-virus? Talk about price-gouging. /s/s
And those used to be nice areas in Seattle. Too bad Seattle decided to go Commie.
I’m in Wakulla, Fl. In Crawfordville there’s a small Goodwill outlet. I’ve found some amazing deals. I didn’t buy it, but they had an entire collection of hand-blown glass bottles, some of which were at least two hundred years old. Three bucks apiece. I’ve bought some amazing furniture. I don’t own any “new” furniture. People come in and say, “Wow! Nice decor.”
There appear to be only two types of shoppers. Those who are one step away from homeless and people driving hundred-plus thousand-dollar vehicles.
The average people, economically speaking, apparently shop full retail. They’re not economically literate.
It was predictable.
Once you looted and plundered the dollar stores, what’s next?
A non-profit selling donations, I guess.
I lived in Seattle 200-2008. There was a McDonald’s downtown Seattle on I think 3rd Ave new Pioneer Square. It started open 6am to midnight like most McD’s, then went to 11am to 5pm because late afternoon/evening hours were just too problematic with homeless, vagrants, malcontents, crime. Those hours became problematic and they hired security. 4-5 year ago is just gave up and closed.
Last I heard the Seattle police Dept is 375 officers short of full staff, lowest in 30 years. Unsurprisingly due to morale and lack of support from the Mayor and an openly opposed libral City Counsel.
It’s Seattle Jake everything on the left coast is screwed up the east coast isn’t far behind them.
Wife has liberal friend in Seattle who can’t take it anymore and is moving from the home she spent years fixing up. No word on whether her voting preference will change but I doubt it.
I partially furnished a second home using Good Will. It’s closed now.
Say brotha, you been shoppin at the Goodwill?
Democrats is why we can’t have great cities any more.
Seattle used to be a gem.
Democrats destroyed it.
“Theft from Goodwill. What have we become?”
Uncivilized, for one thing. But currently, only one political side is acting that way.... and getting away with it. So far...
Same here....and they say the same platitudes: "its the same in every big city".
No its not. Idiot. You voted for it. Live in it.
IIRC, Goodwill is a quasi-scam, and not a charity as much as a revenue-generating enterprise for the founder / owner. That news was years ago, and may not be true now.
