EMIGRANT GAP, Calif. — Parts of Interstate 80 in Placer County are closed Monday morning after an electric big rig caught fire east of Nyack, the California Highway Patrol said.
Drivers are being kept off the interstate for at least half a mile in both directions because the Tesla truck's battery was on fire, said Jason Lyman, a CHP spokesperson. The toxic fumes are an inhalation danger, he said.

This is the 2nd time I’ve been involved in a major highway closure because of ONE disabled electric vehicle. It’s ridiculous!!!
Relax it’s only Net Zero
Who needs trees in the Sierra Nevadas?
Who saw this coming? 🤷
It will stop when it reaches China
Diesel Knock List!....................
The gift of stupid ideas that just keeps giving.
Imagine what it would be like if there were millions of them on the road. Every highway would be closed most of the time because all it takes is one vehicle to flare up.
I did not know that there were already electric big rigs on our highways. I wonder if they are government owned such as USPS .
If only it was the free abortions truck at the DNC...
toxic cloud from all the Coal/Oil used to make the truck ? LOL
The government subsidized and funded quite a few private trucking company ventures for testing. A few self driving trucks also,
Here in northern CA Pepsi Co has a bunch of Tesla big rigs on the roads. I’ve also seen Frito lay trucks which of course is part of Pepsi co.
Trucks can’t self-drive they’ll RUN AWAY
This is just an overreaction by fire fighters to a little harmless smoke.
Hydrogen cyanide
Hydrogen fluoride
Hydrogen chloride
Carbon monoxide
Sulfur dioxide
Methane
Tesla wants us to believe that EVs are perfectly safe. Why would they lie to us?
Because of the dispatchers... :)
Not to mention most fire depts solution to electric car fires is to let them burn themselves out. Awesome when it occurs on a major highway.
“Mostly . . . “
Can’t we blame this on Trump somehow?
