BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Fox45 obtained exclusive video capturing the assault of 74-year-old David Philpot near the corner of Eastern Ave and Ann in Fells Point.
Philpot died early Sunday morning after being taken to the hospital, according to his family.
Baltimore Police say on August 17 around 2:45 p.m., a 74-year-old man was assaulted by an unidentified white male in the 1700 block of Eastern Avenue.
The assault followed an argument between the two, according to officials.
The video shows the suspect of the assault approaching Philpot, while Philpot was walking his dog named Chip.
The suspect actually pets Chip seconds before the attack.
Fox45 spoke with Philpot's friend, Caleb Shuey, who arrived minutes after the attack.
“The nicest guy on the planet. You can tell that he values live and enjoys himself," said Shuey.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine a cause of death.
Police are asking for help to identify the suspect seen in the photos below.
In 2020, FOX45 spoke with Philpot when he came across an unlocked mailbox on a street corner in Fells Point and stood guard until a U.S.P.S. worker arrived.
Notice how they have no problem identifying the perp as a White male...not a “youth” or a “teen”. Notice how they don’t describe the assailant as “wearing a white T-shirt”.
“...I lived in Chicago from 1962 to 1970. I could take public transportation after mid night on Clark Street. Never had a problem. I will not go back there now if they gave me a free house....”
Same goes for New Orleans.
Back in the late 1980s, The Hyatt Hotel at the Super-dome occasionally offered a weekend couples’ getaway. One could safely walk from there, over to Canal Street, then on down to the waterfront, Bourbon St. etc. and safely walk back to the hotel later in the evening with no issues whatsoever.
Today? One would need to be armed to the teeth to even think about trying such a thing even in broad daylight.
It’s a shame what the communists have done to our large cities.
