Most not all black folks have Tuskegee embedded in their DNA.
“ August football practice in the Deep South claims lives many years, from way before covid vaccines.”
Yes. Not only Deep South.
You always heard about these things during hell week.
I didn’t realize the culture of made up names still used the name James spelled backwards.
In any event - RIP.
They used to with hold water and gives us hands full of those salt tablets for potassium. I don’t remember anyone falling out. A few people quit. It seems like this happens more often now.
Yep. I remember lotsa guys hurling the first few days. A couple never returned. I also remember being very close to not being able to get out of bed the morning after the first day of practice... and I was in pretty good shape, having swum competitively the whole summer.
Most blacks today have no flipping idea of Tuskeegee.
The jab nut Bat-Signal has just flashed. Sit back and enjoy the show.
Are you kidding?
It is part of the litany.
Yep, freshman year we started with over 60 players before hell weeks. After hell weeks....we were down to 41.
Ask the football players who also wrestled witch practice was worse.
In Beautiful Beaufort we had lots of 90/90 weather.
90°/90% relative humidity...
I've noticed that here in Reno. I think there was a time when the rate of mask wearing was very low across all demographics, mostly elderly and sickly looking, or people who looked like chemotherapy patients.
I wrestled also.
Allowing your kid to play football is parental malpractice.
But they won’t do any analysis of his heart cells to look for antibody based damage. Cause he was 14 and probably large for his age...and the authorities think of it as a very rare diagnosis......and sadly, there are always young boys who die during football practice. Very strenuous sport.
“Allowing your kid to play football is parental malpractice.”
I talked to a guy in his 50’s who just had a knee replacement. He said it was caused by an old high school football injury. He played linebacker and was about 5’5”. I asked him if he wishes he hadn’t played football. He said yes. He’s never going to go anywhere in football at 5’5.
Went to high school with a guy who tore up his knee in high school football. Bothered him the rest of his life.
Why? There are a lot safer sports.
My mother did not want me to play...”why are those big people falling on each other?”
First time I played tackle football(only 10 years old)...it was so exhilarating I knew I was gonna’ play...so my mom relented....but I had season ending injuries...but I loved it....young men roughhousing is part of growing up as a rough man..it’s too bad it glamourized..it’s just a way for young strong men to run and chase and capture things. Lots of fun till you get so strong and big that the kinetic energy expended tears up bodies, and body tissues..
Or you could as easily ask if he used steroids or any other kind of drug
