A woman found dead on a trail in Northern California was killed in a domestic dog attack, and authorities say that a pack of 25 Great Danes were seen "running loose in the area" at the time.
An autopsy found numerous dog bites on Corbin, and a subsequent DNA test confirmed that she was the victim of a domestic dog attack. The sheriff's department said it believes Corbin was walking the trail when she was attacked. DNA analysis of Corbin's clothing is seeking to determine which dog, or dogs, bit her, and KCRA reports that none of the animals have yet been euthanized.
A neighbor on Blackhawk Trail told KCRA that the pack of Great Danes has been a problem for years. "They came across the road here at me," Max Hecker said. "So I jumped in the car and left." He said that he and other neighbors called Butte County Animal Control numerous times to complain about the dogs, including on the day before the deadly attack. "

What a horrifying way to die. I always assumed that great danes were gentle. Maybe it’s the pack mentality. Poor woman.
When they are hungry I'm sure everything looks like Kibbles and Bits.
Back in the Seventies, my sister was a hippie of note, and when I came home on leave one time, I saw her sitting in a VW Beetle at a gas station next to my parent’s house.
I ran over, and stuck my head in the window to say hello to her, and all I saw was this enormous mouth, completely wide open, huge glistening white teeth, and the mottled pink of the roof of the mouth, with those weird, horrible transverse “ribs” running side to side coming at my face in the car at impossible speed.
I yanked my head back in time to hear a loud SNAP as the jaws closed, fortunately, with none of my face inside them.
I stood there aghast at the close call, and that damned huge Great Dane just sat there looking at me balefully, hoping I am sure, that I would be stupid enough to stick my head back through that window.
I know they can be nice dogs, but I have never trusted any of them since then.

And it doesn’t take them long to pack up and go feral. In my rural county, we have had to deal with packs consisting of multiple types and breeds. We deal with them with the fifty cent solution (now a buck due to inflation).

It’s also not known why these packs of adorable, deranged mini-beasts have banded together to ruin everything and everyone. Perhaps it’s a retaliation against humanity over years of being dressed up as tacos, stuffed down hot chick’s shirts, being lost by Paris Hilton, and mistaken for rats.

I don’t know why people are such bleeding hearts over animals that have proved to be a danger to other people or animals.
One was from Texas, the other from Michigan.

Yes, they were both male. Ate 12 cups of dry dog food per day.
Oh, okay - Zeus #2 died last September at age 3 from complications of bone cancer.
Had a boss who put one down after it bit him.
And I know a woman who should probably be put down for the same reason.

There is a reason why Great Danes have the nickname ‘gentle giants’. They ARE extremely gentle and very loyal.
Any large dog, running loose in a pack spells trouble.
Wonder what excuse the Aninmal Control has for not doing anything. There had been numerous complains.
